+/-, over the course of a game, is ****ing worthless. You know that right? If you're going to compare defense, check some of the meaningful defensive statistics. Not +/- for a single ****ing game. Especially when Roy Hibbert played like Yao Ming in the first when Lin was on the floor.

Do you understand how stupid that point is? Do you know what Michael Jordan was doing when he wasn't having bad games? He was being the best player to ever step foot on a basketball court. You know what Lin is doing when he isn't having bad games? He's having mediocre games.

Look, everyone's a little bit right on this.

Does Lin have a short leash on TOs? Yes.

Do superstars get a longer leash in general b/c they have proven consistency already? Yes.

When will Lin have a longer leash? When he shows consistency in low TOs or consistency in putting up pts/assists/wins despite his TOs.

There's nothing to really debate here. You are all right. It's on Lin to earn it.

However Jeremy pushed the pace and pick and rolled with Asik, in the middle of the game. For some reason mchale does not ride the 'hot' with Lin.
Maybe the game was toast before they started. With Smith/Harden pick and roll run. Mchale ran it till smith was crawling.

in the 1st quarter, lin didn't have a great start, so Mchale put Bev in. that's understandable and right. Lin was benched the entire 3rd quarter, that was not surprising even Mchale should have put Lin back. Still that's was predictable. In the 3rd quarter, Lin started to play well and seemed to be on the roll and the Rockets was trailing only by 4. Lin was benched again with 4xx minutes until the 4th quarter with 4xx minitues trailing by 10. That's not understandable. Lin is type of player who plays with momentum on the court. When he was playing well in the 4th quarter, imo Mchale should have let him play on at least a couple more minutes in the 3rd quarter to see how the game would go with Lin on the count. Instead, he benched Lin until Lin was totally cold and then put back with only 4 minutes. Bev was playing good in the 1st half but not the 2nd half. Mchale should have done a better substitute according to how the game was being played in that moment instead of just sticking with his fixed/routine substitute without any adjustments.

Mchale is over doing it. It's hurting the Rockets and we lose scoring options.

Why would he? He's 10X the player Lin is, and can make up for it. Lin on the other hand cannot.

I just hope Alexander doesn't pull a Bob McNair and give McHale a contract extension. Fortunately Les seems very East Coast-ish and doesn't he would tolerate mediocrity or let emotions or feelings for a coach trump what's best for the team like Morey seems to be doing.

Also, how can you really compare the +/- of a bench player to a starter? Starters go up against vastly superior offensive talent, and usually more seasoned veterans.

It's sad that you even have to explain this. Also, the conversations on here shouldn't be about x-player vs y-player. We need everyone to play to their strengths.

Completely agreed. You just can't look strictly at the scoreboard to determine certain players/positions.

Look, we are all in a team, the players are all in a team. You don't throw team mates under the bus because they had a bad game.

The game is just entertainment. It would be nice that everyone tries to enjoy it instead of getting pissed all the time.

When soldiers go to battle field and put their real life on the line, they'll have to cover for each other, even some soldiers are weak than others. Lost a game isn't nearly as serious.

    Am I too serious?

I can't blame coaching for this game. Tonight's loss is because the Rockets showed up with no fire, urgency or effort. Beaten on all loose balls, rebounds etc...just a pitiful effort. I'm not a huge McHale fan but he can't play for the players. There are several players who should be embarrassed with their effort tonight.
