He's threatened to retire multiple times these past years.

He has lost passion for the game which might be an issue.

I heard he got 6-7 guaranteed, not a year if that's the case i would think we paid 9-10 and gave a big guarantee with signing bonus. Rick put down his guidelines and didn't really budge don't see him giving up another 2-3 a year

qbs don't like to go deep on reed. I'm psyched about this signing. All we need is to shore up the o line, a 2nd go to reciever, and a robotic arm for schaub to throw the deep ball.

Great job by the Texans to get their man and not overpay.

Ran into a coach at AZ airport. On Reed/Texans: "The guy they lost (Quin) could do everything, hit & cover. That's not Ed. He's 20 yds deep"

    Good for that coach.

Tel me exactly how elite our secondary was last year when this defense was giving up 40+ points and getting torched for deep plays downfield. Along with having zero awareness or a true leader on defense.

Now they've got two guys who can read defenses and coach on the field (Reed, Cushing).

That is a lot of money for a soon to be 35 year old safety who has clearly lost a step (or two).

    I don't think $3.5 per year for 2 years is a lot.

I wanted Phillips but I'm cool with Reed grooming a safety for the future. Good job Rick on getting a quickie Texans Hall of Famer LoL

    Next time, the Texans should:

    1) Overpay to get a deal done immediately.

    and

    2) Leak contingency plans so the fanbase doesn't get nervous.

Also, no wining and dining. We could end up with egg on our collective face.

    Reed > Quin

    Cushing is coming back...
    Healthy Joseph...
    Mercilus will be better...
    Mitchell > Cody

Our defense can be special if we get enough pressure up front..

Is it me, or are the Texans looking a little bit like the Rockets?

-Not overpaying, to the point where it makes us a bit nervous.
-Focusing on keeping our stars (Andre, Watt, Cushing, Foster), and filling the rest of the roster with what smart, low budget moves.
    -Drafting well.
    -Wining and dining.

In all seriousness the Texans defense has a chance to be top 5 in the league next year. Especially if Cushing comes back strong. Pretty stoked.

Having that ring and knowing what it takes to get it.....that's the biggest attribute he's bringing to the table. We don't have anyone on the team that has this.

Plus Manning and Brady hate playing against him.
