Just watched highlights from the Rockets/Suns game on CCTV5.

Any suggestions for things not to miss here?

The bund is very nice at night.

Shopping wise Nanjing street is ok, but I think that Huaihai Street is much better in my opinion. Better stores and atmosphere overall. Less tourist trap and more local Shanghai-nese tend to shop there.

The Shanghai theatre is pretty, saw the Vienna orchestra playing there. If there are some good performance going on, it's worth the ticket..

    See shaoxing and taikang road.

Visit the Cheng huang miao (no idea how to say that in English) for the Chinese souvenirs that only tourist buys, and the sellers expect you to try and bargain. Don't buy any "oh that looks Chinese" stuff anywhere else. Wait till you been to Chenghuang Miao. More concentrated and more likely to bargain a better price.

    General tips:
Take the subway but off rush hours. If you want to take the cabs, look for "大众" and "强生" cabs, less likely to rip you off. If you can, unlock your cell phone and get a simcard while there. Even if you're just there for vacation, having a cell phone to call hotels, restaurants, and etc. is pretty good on the go. GPS on my S3 worked but the data plan in Shanghai is expensive. Enjoy the food and try to not spend too much money. Commercialization has been going strong there for a while.
