By the 4 minute mark all starters unless fouled out, hurt or having a terrible night. I know Beverley was playing good D but he would have been worn out by the 3rd or so minute mark, I wouldn't even want Lin playing the full 4th... just dumb!!! And Asik was the worst mistake... he was playing so well and he didn't get a second in the 4th?? Disgraceful...
I think first round appearance for 4 first-time starters is a very encourages experience. The boost in player's confidence would outweight any #14 pick.
I'll have to agree. Benching your starters in a close game where the backups haven't spectacularly outplayed the starters is foolish.
yep. outside of harden (maybe delfino and asik?) this team barely has any experience in the playoffs where they play big minutes
Asik isn't that great at grabbing boards anyway and in the last match-up Lin got abused by Collison. If McHale has proved anything it's that you've got to ride the hot hand and play your rooks in the 4th quarter. Rebuilding season.
Listen OP to answer you question. Mchale understands that there are more important things in life than winning. He is teaching our young players things like sportsmanship, how to share and maybe just maybe that by letting the other guy win; you win too. There is a little Mchale in all of us.
Before the T-Rob trade, Douglas used to get crunch time minutes over Lin occasionally. So, it's understandable Beverly got his time too. Just some plain points - Coaches didn't trust Lin whatsoever, it's not an agenda, just don't value him much, as simple as that. - If I am going to play Harden ISO all the remaining minutes, why the hell I would put somebody in (Lin) for less D "perceptively"? - Dantoni wouldn't bet against Lin. But there are so many coaches in the NBA would, maybe including ours. Humanity is humanity, take a deep breath, put yourself into the persons' shoes. No matter its LOF, LOH, Rockets only fan, Harden only fan, racist, SAS, McHale, Sampson, Morey. Every move is understandable. Imagine you are Hall of Famer, used to be a GM, trusted players being traded/let go (dragic), endless roster changes versus my old school philosophy, rehired some players I decided to fire before(Lin) and force me to make him a starter. Man, I wouldn't have an issue against Lin, till everybody forces me to! Including the annoying LOF's moaning. LOL.
I have never seen a coach benching his starters that often in 4th Qtr, and I have seen many years' NBA basketball. It is usually in the situations that either starters play exceptionally poorly or the bench player have an unconscious night. I have seen neither today. Nowadays it won't take Beverley much to push Lin to the bench. A couple hustle plays, a few baskets and MacFail will just ride him as long as he can, giving the impression that MacFail is seeking any opportunities to bench Lin.
wtf. did you just say asik is not good at rebounding? i'm not interested in what you u smoking which game are you talking about when collison abused lin?
Adelman had a similar situation in which, Lowry came into the game and totally outplayed AB...when Aaron was the starter...But never did he bench Aaron Brooks down the stretch...He just add him with Lowry... Lin has legit qualm about his lack of PT in the 4th...and really im not a huge Lin Fan...I wanted Dragic back...
Bev played nearly 15 straight minutes. Mchale says he stayed in the game because he played well. Why doesn't Lin get to stay in the game when he's hot/plays well? He always gets subbed out.
With the signing of AB, don't be surprised if Lin doesn't crack 30 minutes/game again for the rest of the season.
We were losing the entire game and managed to finally come back and gain momentum with that lineup...are people really this stupid?
Either you're trolling or this is the worst comment of the year, not a single thing you said made sense.
