I want Dwight but I think it's super necessary to keep Asik to back him up. More importantly Morey wants Howard.
i agree to a certain extent. dwight is obviously the better player when you compare them head to head. but dwight has had a ton of injuries. and he hasnt exactly been the perfect teammate in the locker room. he'll also cost the max. would you rather have dwight at 20 mil or asik at 8? asik can still get better. he got a ton better this past off season. just imagine what another off season will do. now, therees only so much you can improve your hand eye cordination, but i wouldnt mind just pairing asik with a top tier 4...not smith, not millsap...but the best 4 in the game
I guess I don't get why we need him. We've got a top ranked offense without him. His style of play isn't really consistent with how we play. Asik is on his first year as a starter and is getting better offensively by the day.
I think you're right in that no one should straight up write off Dwight as useless (ie, wouldn't take him for free). I feel like that's a BIT of a strawman argument though, I don't know that anyone is really saying that. Howard carries a certain amount of risk on two different levels. The first is the injury stuff - that you're going to spend a quarter of your cap on what turns out to be a twelfth man when the pressure's on. The second is the chemistry. It's clear by his comments about P&R vs post, all the past SVG stuff and so on that the guy thinks he should be his own coach. I completely agree that's a risk worth taking in a bubble. But to dismiss it as silly if you say that it's not worth the risk + Asik + Parsons (or whatever the S&T were to end as) isn't right. Even saying "I'd rather sign Paul Millsap outright than sign Dwight outright"...I mean, I think it's wrong, but because of the risks Howard poses, I think it's a valid argument.
Indeed! I've got a great team for Dwight: Dwight Stromile Swift T-Mac AI Marbury Maybe we can get Oden to play backup.
Dhoward is a much better defensive player than asik. Those Orlando teams were great on D but their cast around Howard was terrible defensively.
He's got a terrible attitude, he's stupid, he's immature, he's never improved his skills since he came into the league, he can't shoot free throws, he has no post game, he does not care about winning, he just wants to make a lot of money, goof off, and "have fun", he's hugely overrated...... Yeah, anyone not wanting this clown for the max is clearly silly.
I mean.... I would obviously enjoy it if we signed him. I think anybody who wouldn't is ridiculous. He's the best center in the league and he's injured right now. An offseason to get healthy would do wonders for him, I'd imagine. Having said that, I can understand why people would be more inclined to just roll with Asik though. He's improving and much cheaper. Honestly....either scenario is perfectly fine with me.
The only that scare me is his health. Otherwise I could imagine Harden and DH being buddies. I can see Lin and DH doing commercial in Asian market. You know what "happy" DH would do for team? Back to his 20/16 - DPOY - all-NBA 1st team. DH will elder statesman with him & Harden being only ones with NBA finals experience. You will not see the same chemistry issue on Lakers. LOF should happy because he probably give him 1.5 more assist per game.
I would like to be a contender thus I would Dwight Howard. The team is likeable and all but winning is more important.
I am in the silly crowd. IF the Rockets get this drama king it will be like getting Charles Barkley all over again. He will get you to the playoffs but not to the finals.
The last time this team has been to the WCF was when Barkley was here. We were not getting passed the Sonics with Sam and Robert.
