The problem is Mchale. Lin starts the game hot with 8(?) pts on 2-2 from 3pt. Mchale subs him with 4 minutes left in the 1st, and keeps him on the bench for 10+ minutes. Lin gets cold, and only sees the floor for half a quarter the rest of the night because Bev is going hard in crunch time with the game on the line. And we get drama in the GARM. All because of Mchale's bizarre sub patterns for Lin.
U have 2 understand LIN fans have seen LIN get benched sooo many times the truth is Dallas was missing tons of shots yes Bev played outstanding but saying Bev won the game 4 us is the same as saying Lin would of lost the game if he played in the 4th u add that to McHale doggin LIN after the OKC game for scorin when Bev just did the same and its WTF
Why don't you think that they would eventually become a Houston fan? Shouldn't us oldtimers try not to be so biased against the new members?
No it's not. It's just saying Beverly had a great game. I didn't say anything about Lin, I really don't care what Mchale says, I usually don't put any stock into after game quotes.
crazy fan Yup, Bev won the game for us with his outstanding defense and efficient offense. Can't you celebrate another player's success and a team win? go star your own fan forum
Weird how the typical game narrative has flipped. Earlier in the season we would always fall behind in the first, and a lot of wins were snatched from the jaws of defeat by 4th quarter efforts. Now we are flying out of the gate and dominating while the enemy team gets acclimated to our pace, but then struggle to hold off comebacks. Also it feels to me that our ability to win games is actually only tangentially related to the quality of our opposition. It depends primarily on two things: are they a team that can keep up with our pace? And are they having a hot shooting night? Nearly all of the bad teams in the league are young, so that means they can play fast if they have to. And every team has hot games. This is how we can dominate above average teams like the Grizzles, Knicks & Nets one night and then lose to the Wizards & Bucks the next. Makes close games against "bad" teams like the past 3 a lot less upsetting as a Rockets fan when you realize you can't just create matchup expectations based on record alone.
The new members will be gone the same day Lin is no longer a Rocket. So I'm not so sure they will be long time members.
you kept saying beverley played great defense. it will mislead other ppl to think lin played bad defense. both were playing great defense.
I don't really have much problem of the 4th quarter alone. But I do see some fans have a point, that Lin is treated differently. Dare I say that Lin was the only one being micro-managed so closely. Our backup PGs are not Kidd or Andre Miller kind of veterans to help you close games. TD and Beverly are young and inexperienced, and they are not lottery picks. However, Lin got kept on bench for "defensive purposes", which got us burned bad; or he was pulled for missed shots or TOs; or someone else played better in tonight's case. Lin is young, and yet he's the only one who has to constantly change his natural way of playing, to adapt to the system (whatever that might be). Everyone else can continue to play their natural game. When you argue about one possession or one quarter, it's hard. You can always interpreted different ways. But it's been 59 games, Lin's minutes are still the most inconsistent, and so is his sub pattern. It's difficult for him. Lin is no Harden, he's far from deserving super star treatment. But he still gets paid for 8 million a year, and his job description is starting Point Guard, after all.
Beverly did play disruptive defense but the reason Beverly was left in was because he was hitting MUCH needed shots, which Lin could not do.
Well actually you can say Lin's sub pattern is consistently weird, no matter how well he plays, he gets subbed out around 8 min mark.
