Vertical isn't what defines athleticism. I agree, Robinson is very athletic. It seems, but I remember Amar'e (even before Steve Nash helped propel his name higher in the NBA ranks) being just an athletic freak.

Even for comparing the two verticals from draft express, remember Amar'e was drafted out of high school.

Yes, I agree with this. He gives us something at the 4 that our other players haven't been able to give us. Sometimes you just need a PF that can rebound and hustle. I want to see Robinson give us what Kenneth Faried gives Denver. Faried is only 6' 6" but is a force on the boards. If Robinson can rebound, play defense, and hustle then I will be happy. We need someone other than Asik that is willing to fight for rebounds.

Obviously, you didn't see amare as a rookie getting off the floor. You can look at numbers and see guys like joe alexander, but when u see real time, there is a difference big time.

Either way, I do not see ANY team getting rebounds over us with Asik and Robinson in the game.

I am sort of a mini Kansas fan and saw a number of their games last year He was way more athletic than Sully and is certainly as athletic as anyone on the Kentucky squad. Just from memory he had 17 points and 14 rebounds against Kentucky and every time he was near the ball he was swarmed by the Kentucky front line. Of course Davis blocked him like 5 times, but Robinson is as strong as a bull, and really quick, and certainly can pull off a tomahawk slam with his head at the rim. Of course Davis got the MVP with 0 points and 10 blocks.

I pretty much agree with this. I'm very high on the trade but Robinsoin's on court athleticism seems to be less than what his draftexpress numbers would indicate. I would say he is more athletic than 3/4 of the PF in the league which is good but not so good that he is going to make us forget he is 6'8".

I think what is more important than how high he jumps is how much he likes to attack the rim (see young Carl Landry). Patterson is/was a guy who could get off the floor with above average athleticism but the guy played like he was 33-34 years old instead.

It's funny to me how when posters are optimistic about a player, they go by his height in shoes. When they are pessimistic about a player, they go by his height without shoes.

NBA list heights almost always go by the player's height in shoes, so IMO that's what should always be used.

By that measure, Robinson rounds up to 6'9" in shoes. (He's actually 6'8.75", but that's close enough to be listed at 6'9".)

Can someone tell him how tall he really is? Some articles have him at 6'10, some have him at 6'9. His last yr in Kansas I thought he was a 6'8.5...I know they inflat the numbers in the NBA.

    Hakeem was never 7'0 :)

    Starting pf: t rob, smith
    Starting center: asik, dmo

Dmo and smith will be used interchangeably. T jones and white will remain in d league to develop

I've made that obersvation myself if the past but I'm not down on the guy. My point is that I think he is slightly undersized for an NBA PF. He is athletic enough to make up for that to an extent but expect to hear "If Robinson was two inches taller, he would be an All Star" for the next 5-10 years.

6'8.75" in shoes, 6'7.75" without. He has a 7'3.25" wingspan and an 8'10" standing reach.

    That answer your question? :p

Dwight Howard is 6'9 without shoes. Robinson with his motor and athletism could easily be Faried without a jumper.
