After watching All-Star weekend and watching the three specials on NBA TV featuring Michael Jordan, Bill Russell and Charles Barkley, I was wondering if any Rockets qualify as NBA Royalty.
He created a Username just to troll us 9 years later. Hakeem is alot better than Charles Barkley who is a Rocket. He is better than Russel too.
I guess it depends on how you define "NBA Royalty". I think anyone that knows anything about the NBA would have to say that Hakeem and Moses are with out a doubt NBA Royalty. I would also include Elvin Hayes and Clyde Drexler as easy picks to be NBA Royalty. All four of these players were more than just all-stars, in 1996 they were all selected as one of the 50 greatest players of all time. In fairness, Rick Barry should probably be included also, but I never really liked Barry very much, and he isn't really remembered for his time with the Rockets.
If Chuck is NBA Royalty, we've got a big list. Now, if you want to take him out and then ask the same question, some might hesitate to say Hakeem. I'd put him in with the quality of performance of Bill and Michael, but the ring count is something special and Hakeem doesn't have that. Unfortunately... because Barkley < Horry/Cassell/Mario and Pippen falls somewhere to the left of Barkley.
1. Hakeem 2. Akeem 3. The Dream 4. Olajuwon 5. "Always being on top" 6. Hakeem the Dream Olajuwon 7. Pete Chilcutt
