Maybe Bima can chime in but.... I believe that under the new CBA rules a team over the apron ($4 million above the tax line) can’t receive a player in a sign-and-trade transaction. Brooklyn and LA look like they will be repeat offenders for years to come.

 

Maybe stretching it, but if EGO=Eric Gordon. and references are made to a ring with an r in the middle, could it be a reference to Gordon's Jewelers which has apparently a boatload of locations in Texas?

Yes, because the 3rd year was needed to make the contract 'toxic' only to their existing clubs, which would result in them not matching.

There was no need for a 4th year, in fact it would've made the whole thing more difficult (you either give them the value you want to pay for the 4th year, makes it more likely to be matched, or give the max value again, which just increases the cap hit the Rockets would take - so pointless).

 

If Codman is really getting his info from Jason Smith, then it's looking more and more like the Eric Gordon trade is a good possibility. It's likely that Jason Smith is involved and his agent told him the Rockets are interested in him and Gordon.

 

wow ... now i am seriously thinking that there is something to the Gordon rumor. Never put two and two together. Very very interesting.

No idea why Morey would want to saddle us with a guy who is maxed out and has never been able to stay healthy. I just can't believe it. Gordon makes Bynum look like AC Green.
