My connecting flight is in LA, and I stay there for 12 hrs. What to do?

Should I just stay at the airport for safety?

Or go roam around in LA? If so, where to go?

I mean, if I stay inside the airport for freakin 12 hours. That's going to be incredibly boring. Then again, I have no idea about places in LA, and I'll basically have no money anyway...

    Suggestions?

Is your laptop/iphone/droid/kindle devices with you??? Start with those and then use the rest to get some sleep or go hit on some random chick/ start a conversation with someone there's bound to be strangers everywhere!

I had a 3 hour layover in LAX and walked about a mile to In N Out.

    It was worth it.

You're probably going to need a car if you want to roam around LA.

Rent a car and go over to Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier or just ride up Pacific Coast Highway and find a restaurant with a view.

There's nothing within walking distance to LAX.

You can take a cab to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. I went there last July.

I'd suggest Duke's in Huntington Beach. My step-son works there. Excellent steak and lobster with a fantastic view of the Huntington Beach Pier and local surfers in action. Plus a little shopping action right across the street.

I believe it will pull up as location A on the map. And...it'll be quite a drive/cab ride...it's about 40 miles away...so it might be a bit out of the way. :)

Probably this. Unless you have a friend to meet up that lives there.

If in that area maybe hit the 3rd street promenade in santa monica and perhaps go to hollywood and vine to see 'hollywood' and the typical tourist scene. If you are wanting to see lindsay lohan you maybe try melrose area but its mainly high end shopping women stuff.

Dukes sounds nice but Huntington Beach /Newport Beach is not close. I like Redondo beach better than Manhattan beach but that's just me. Venice is funny enough for a few hours.

If you have the cash, I definitely recommend leaving that uncomortable and crowded airport (which describes most large airports). 12 Hours would be a killer. Make sure you check your luggage with the airline so you don't have to drag that around. Even if you walked up and down Century Blvd, it would beat hanging out in the Airport there.
