Even though in the grand scheme of things, this story is really kind of meaningless towards anything...this is the strangest damn thing I've ever heard. I'm not sure we'll ever find out what has really happened because there are so many people involved. That said, Te'o is still going to get drafted. If he has a good combine, he'll still be a 1st round pick and eventually this will all mostly go away. He'll have to deal with hecklers in visiting stadiums. But he'll still be making millions in the NFL because all the NFL cares about is whether you can play football or not.
He's obviously canceling all these announcements and interviews bc he doesnt have an answer for all the inconsistencies.
Everything I'm hearing about him now paints him as a very socially withdrawn kind of guy. Add in his religion/culture, and the possible complications don't seem to strange anymore.

Dude, ffs, waiting for the body to turn cold here. Not taking any sides. Not jumping to any conclusions. I wouldn't doubt there are holes in these stories, but I want to know more before I go s***ing all over the guy. Who knew what, when did they know it, and why did they do what they did.
But do you really think there was another girl wasting her time for 3 years, spending hours upon hours a night talking to him, just for a prank? Lets assume that Manti was getting trolled for 3 years....just the fact that he would continue without even seeing her is pretty psychotic on his part. No matter how it's sliced, this guy has major issues. Phone records would clear everything up rather easily.
Does the guy deserve to be ripped to shreds for that? Like people seem so eager to do? If he lied with malicious, self-serving/promotion intent, then I'll be the first to roast him. But I don't think it's that cut and dry.
I don't see anyone "ripping him to shreds". Saying he is probably a weirdo/possibly gay/probably a liar doesn't mean ripping him to shreds.
I have a very hard time trying to comprehend any scenario that doesnt include Manti making all this up. IMO, its about as cut and dry as it gets.
