I don't get how they support Lin no matter how bad he plays, game after game. They also begin to threaten people that tell them the truth about his play. Can someone please explain.

Isn't the answer in the name: Lin-only-Fans.

The logic is they like the guy and don't want him to fail, despite all signs that he is failing.

    End of thread.

They are not fans of the team, they are fans of JLin. They followed his bandwagon here but they are not from Houston or have no association with Houston before either himself or Yao got here.

How much you wanna bet, if Lin has his way with the ball and performs well, but Harden is the one struggling and we are losing all of our games, we wouldn't even hear a whisper from them about the coaching staff.

Because they feel it is not wise to curse a guy that is nice and playing with his best effort for their loved team?

    1) Lin's got a solid track record. You've seen him put up 20, 30 point games against very good competition. And this wasn't one or two games where he just got lucky chucking the ball at the rim.

    2) He has great court awareness. He may make mistakes here or there, but all young points do that. You can see that he has a sense of how and when to pass. A lot of his turnovers and mistakes right now can be attributed to a lack of chemistry, young teammates, and the insistence of coaching staff to make him play a certain way.

    3) He's got the size, athleticism, and physicality you like to see in your point guard. He won't get posted up, he has an excellent first step, and plays solid and sometimes great defense. Sure, he isn't a freak like Westbrook, but he can easily be as athletic/physical in the mold of Jason Kidd/Chauncey Billups.

    4) He's young. Point guards don't mature as playmakers for the most part until they're in their mid to late twenties. It's foolhardy to expect that he'll be dominant consistently at this point in his career.

    5) We are not contending. Why wouldn't you give somebody with potential the chance to play? Why bench him for mistakes when there is absolutely no upside to winning 2 or 3 more games this season? Let him play through those 8 point, 5 turnover games and let him grow. It's not like Toney Douglas has shown he can be a starting point guard in this league.

Because most of them are racists, simple.
If Lin wasn't Asian, 90% of LOFs would not give a damn about him.

Because they're fans of the person and not the organization. They don't want wins, they just want to see Lin do well and will rationalize his failures in any way they can.

    Makes me sick.

Haters! As soon as you get rid of the Motiejūnas, LOF's will leave these forums. Just trade him to Raptors, so all the LOF's can concentrate on there :)

Actually, we probably would hear a ton of complaints about how Harden is soft, how "McFail" is using him wrong or how Stupid Murray wasted all of our assets trading for James Soften, a fugazy star/fool's gold.

People always find stuff to b**** about in Clutchfans. Lin is topic du jour but don't think for a minute that people b**** in the absence of him.

But imo supporting a player based on race should be a valid enough reason. its no different from germans supporting dirk, australians supporting bogut, Canadians for Nash or even formerly ohio for Lebron. Its a source of pride for them. The issue arises when it circumvents their ability to judge a player objectively. In a perfect world everybody lives in Houston and is drawn to the team for the same reasons, but that isnt the case, and never will be. Yes, Lin could be utilized better by coaches, perhaps there are a multitude of reasons, but there is no excuse for the dropoff in intensity and aggression that lends him to having 38 points vs the production in the last few games.

It's simple. Lin's not playing bad because he's a "bad player," he's playing bad because the coaches are using in him the worst way possible. When he is used correctly, he plays like a star and the team he is on wins at an extremely high rate. Of course, the OP and some other LOH avoid this reason and focus on his poor performance as a indicator of his ability.

Since you are one of the '12ers, where were you before Lin signed with the Rockets? ;)

No one here supports Bogut, we acknowledge he exists, that's about it :p
I agree with what you are saying, I never said race can't be a valid reason for supporting a player, I was just saying that the majority of the completely irrational LOFs (see the Rockets facebook thread) are all Asians that don't seem to care about the Rockets, or basketball in general.
