I think the only thing Mchale's good at is how to ruin Jeremy Lin. This kid looked puzzled today, his only highlights were in the final 5 mins when he didn't think too much about what the coach told him to do.
I didn't see the game, but JLin has looked completely out of sorts from game 2 onwards. And the entire team has been dazed and confused from game 3 onward. There's no way to confuse what we're seeing now with "growing pains" or a team "making adjustments." This team is playing bad basketball and has a bad coaching STAFF. I'm off the mchale bandwagon. Perhaps I'll go read donaghy's book and get off the nba bandwagon.
I respectfully disagree with this. IMO, the caliber of talent on a team or potential playoff contention should not dictate whether or not you keep a mediocre coach, who was also, IMO, mediocre last year(referring to McHale -poor substitutions, predictable stagnant offense, etc.). It is clear, and not in question, that we don't have the same talent level as the Lakers, but I think there is a common thread we share or shared and that is underperforming coaches.
Tomorrow I hope. I have seen enough. McHale does not know anything about players strengths. He believes players will play to a certain unobtainable standard.
If Harden weren't here, I'd say McHale would never get fired... maybe his contract would not be renewed, but he wouldn't get fired, because you could blame everything on Lin or Asik or "youth." But Rockets have a max player who's being made to look bad at $80mil. If Harden wants him gone, he will be gone eventually. It's a player's league.
