yeah i find it astounding how many minutes he is playing the starters so early in the season. would rather he not ride our prize horses to death before we are even on the road to the triple crown
I don't get why they were playing risky defense during the end of regulation. All they had to do was play solid man to man and they might've been able to hold the lead. McHale.... And play some rookies for ***'s sake.
My biggest issue with Mchale is how everyone praises his footwork and inside game yet Patterson who is looks physically dominating, has turned into the second comming of Channing Fry. From his rookie year Patterson not only regressed but turned soft! He has point blank shots and flicks the ball at the rim instead of trying to tear the rim down! Then of course now he's jacking up threes! Man I miss Landry, you hear players playing bigger than their size but Patterson plays much smaller than his frame. Ugh!
I agree, obviously Harden and the team was tired tonight. Portland is Young and Long but we had our chances to execute but didn't. Harden had no lift and no quickness what so ever. They will be alright with a couple of days practice.
I'm not a fan of Mchale either, but I'm willing to give him this year. Wish Rick Adelman was still coach doe
This. Also, when we were up by 3 with less than a minute to go, how does Matthews gets wide open for the tying three? Everybody and their mother knew that play was coming. I am proud of the guys but this was a winnable game.
Both Jayhawks need significant playing time. All the idiots who rated this thread low have probably never been in the TC before.
Someone give D'antoni a call. How does one not call timeout at the end of regulation to set up a play, at the very least give the starters a breather.
coach McHale??? It's only been 3 games into the season and I'm questioning coach McHale, are you? 1st The team play concept, run run run! I believe we should run when the opportunity presents itself but when it doesn't settle in for the halfcourt and run plays. It's only the third game and they looked tired all ready. This team is filled with 23 yr olds with fresh legs but their huffing and puffing while the older veteran team is not. Something is wrong. There's no need to fast break into a halfcourt set, you can't run all the time. Slow down during halfcourt sets. The veterans are looking at our guys like a chicken which lost his head and wasting energy. You burned them out by the third game all ready. 2nd Player rotation and selection With this style of play I believe you can expand the 9 man rotation(so as to not burn out your players). Plus your not taping into the youngest freshest legs on the team. I'm not saying play them extensive minutes but give them minutes. Playing morris at the pf is a mistake when your full of real pf on the team. Please send t.douglas into Dallas with the top down. I don't know what you were thinking in the fourth qr when most of the starters sat out most of the fourth in favor of morris, douglas, delfino. In my mind you gave the win to portland right there.
Yup, we got outcoached tonight. Sticking with a 9 man rotation because you're stubborn and refusing to play rookies is just dumb so I blame McHale for this loss.
I agree that deeper rotation would help reduce fatigue in the future.. but I haven't really seen a time where McHale can truly justify playing the rooks. They are going to get garbage time at the end of games which are already decided (unless they do something incredible) and we haven't seen such a time yet On your first point, i don't see the issue.. We are (and have been for some time) a run and gun offense. Especially considering we don't have the synergy a lot of 'half court' teams do due to the player inexperience with each other and McHale's system. Saying that, we ran a lot of half court pick and roll offense.. I thought there was a good balance Ps. Morris, Douglas and Delfino are good players. Our starters needed a rest to be fresh for the last few minutes of a tied game
It seems to me McHale knows what he is doing, people questioned Morris playing and look how big he came through the last 2 games. Douglas had some nice plays last game too. McHale wants to work in the rooks slowly and i agree. He has the benefit of seeing these players in practice so I'm guessing he knows more then us fans in this situation.
