If Parsons and Asik can be top flight role players, and Lin/Harden can keep the pressure up, if our eventual starting Power Forward can turn into an offensive weapon (i.e. solid jumper and 3 ball), this will be a very good team for a long time. Oh, and a decent 6th man wouldn't hurt either.
There's three things this team needs: 1) A backup PG. When Lin was off the court, the offense and defense suffered. 2) A scoring threat on the 2nd team. Delfino can score, but he can't create his own shot. 3) Low post scoring threat. I'm now convinced that this is where the Rockets will look to add a 2nd star.
I personally liked these 5 when it mattered the most at the end: Lin, Harden, Asik, Delfino, Parsons Some flashes of greatness from Smith. Really want to just watch a lot more games though. I thought TD couldn't hit the broadside of a barn for whatever reason though. Wait til this team GELS its going to be fricking amazing - along with the bench getting figured out.
I don't really want to make the playoffs but if we do with our youth would be EXTREMELY encouraging for the future. It has been a long while since I've been genuinely excited about the Rockets, not just happy to watch. Now all we need is Stern to retire to get a legitimate shot at winning anything.
Omar played well, stats dont tell the whole story. Good D all night and had 12 points. Smith is much more athletic than I realized. He's got a great offensive game but needs to improve his D in the paint. Parsons was out of control all night. Douglas was terrible. Delfino had his shot going. Harden was super-human. Morris was below average and not strong enough to play the 4. Lin was good, but concerned about his knee holding up all year. T jones is the answer at PF. McHale is on crack.
