How about build through the draft? Did that ever occur to you? Look at most teams that won over the years. They built through the draft. All of you keep talking about this magical max player that we can sign. Name who you think it could be. Yes we will be back to being mediocre. We finally put ourselves in position to just lose. Now we will be hearing "And with the 14th pick" one more time. Either that or losing to the Lakers or OKC in the first round and picking 15th or 16th.
Sure he wanted more money. You gotta take advantage at his age, being in his prime. Thing is, does he want to play here? I sure hope so.
Go root for the Washington Wizards then or the New Orleans Hornets. They got the top picks in recent years. Do you know how much of a gamble lottery picks are?
2012 - Miami Heat certainly won through the drafting of Lebron James and Chris Bosh...not. 2011 - Dallas Mavericks, Dirk...took about a decade of building through Dirk to finally win. 2009 - 2010 - Pau Gasol trade that took the Lakers over the hump. 2008 - Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen..... I'm looking at the teams that have won recently and noticed nothing but trades that made these teams win.
for the past 20 years , only 1 team had won the championship with the top pick draft as their main man. 1997 San Antonio Spurs Tim Duncan
Using your English fail, and the associative property, you're saying that Jeremy Lin is better than Kevin Durant (or Parsons)? Not meaning any of this against you, just trying to lighten this thread from some of the downers and trolls that have made appearances.
For tankers prefer high draft picks, think of it this way: We offered #12,14,16 and Lowry, Parsons along with taking back bad contracts for #2 pick this draft...and was rejected(according to recent thread about Bobcats draftroom). At the same time, MJ was reported to try trading #2 for Harden. If Harden becomes a legit allstar, you can trade him for top picks. If he becomes superstar, you won't trade him but theoretically you can get multiple high picks if you want.
All the debbie downers that say something like "oh well Harden doesn't make us championship contenders" need to realize what single trade this offseason would have made us championship contenders? You obviously need to make several trades to put yourself into position. Did you all want some sort of fantasy land trade where a multi-team trade netted us Lebron, Kevin Love, Harden and CP3?
He will be a restricted FA next year, so HOU has all the rights to match any offer. I also think we will sign him to a max offer right away.
