Well Monday the jerseys are being ordered and I need my jersey number.

My first number ever (back when I was around 7) was 12, and it's really stuck with me, but I'm not the biggest fan of common numbers like 12.

I also like 34 because of Hakeem, but I want a number that's meaningful to me and something that I can stick with for a long time.

Any ideas? I want a unique number. Not a single digit and nothing too common. Should I stick with 12 or 34?

Congrats on making the team and for being a starter. The number is not important it's what you do while wearing it.

Have fun, these are special times.

    why pick a common number?

You want a non common number, but you say stick with 12 or 34. Common or uncommon.

It's not a knock on you, but doubt you're headed to the NBA, but if you are that one percent, fan freakingtastic. Build up your own number like 37 or 51 or something like that.

My number is 9, because the first letter of my first name starts with P and the letter P backwards is 9. kind of.

how you choose your number will be arbitrary, and it's ok that it's arbitrary or "shallow" as long as it makes you happy.

self aggrandizing in sports makes me happy. i think it's funny. i draw confidence from it. so i choose 9 because in my mind it celebrates me. i dont care what other people think.

choose whatever number makes you happy. it can be a small "shallow" reason, or a deep "meaningful" reason. it doesn't matter. what's important is that you identify with it, and it makes you happy.
