I would really like to see Calvin Murphy as a coach (without the flashy clothes). He seems to have good basketball sense and knows the style of basketball that would make us a championship team. While doing the color commentary he says the appropriate things in every basketball situation, and that's what the Rockets need on the court. I like Rudy, but maybe as a GM (assistant). To me, he does not have the control of the team like he should.

In my opinion Calvin Murphy would make a bad coach. I like him and everything, but I just don't see him in that type of position at all.

I don't really like the list of experienced coaches, I say look for a new coach, or get Larry Bird out of retirement.

I think the thread is meant to be a "Who do you think the Rockets would hire" ratehr than a "Who do you think SHOULD coach the Rockets".

Keith Jones is apparently someone teams are interested in as a head coach, right?

I will get SO blasted for this, but I think this guy would be perfect. He's extremely articulate, he's more mature now, he's WIDELY respected amongst the players, he's a perfectionist, and he's no dummy. Furthermore, Houston has the talent to knock off the Lakers which I think would be important to him:

    Michael Jordon

...and no one has to tell me how this will never happen....

Without a doubt, it should be Calvin Murphy. Murph is a stern motivator who won't let anyone run over him and yet he's in touch with all of the current Rockets. I mean he's not an old school coach nor is he a streetball coach. He's a disciplinarian who'll get the most out of theses guys, something I don't think Rudy is doing. Sometimes it's just time for a change meaning it's not always the coach's fault.
