Pardon my ignorance - - what is rantsports? Are they Bleacher Reports level or something with positive cred?
Ha! I'd trade everyone on the team for Durant. Machado may not be the most media savvy kid but we need production from everyone. I don't care who it is, as long as they're making an impact and helping the team win, that's all that matters. I'm confident he'll make the team and contribute in some capacity.
Pardon my ignorance and my impatience, but - - what is rantsports? Are they Bleacher Reports level or something with actual positive cred?
Rockets a future 'it' team, seems like a rant alright. Significant difference between OKC & Rockets: - Lucky in the draft: even if the Rockets get 2 high picks this year (raptors + own) and next year, we probably still will not get a 1-2 punch like WB & Durant. It's very rare to have a good combo like that + draft a defensive center like Ibaka (at 24!). We could get lucky with White and or TJ but we would need to get Shabbaz / Zeller / Noel / McAdoo this year + Parker / Wiggins next year to have some kind of a foundation. - Owner willing to rebuild: even if we have a great young group where players will do well, you can bet your ass Morey is working the phones like crazy to sell high and early and turn him into a veteran (all-star) to please Alexander. We really have to stink 1-3 years and no way Leslie is willing to do that. He never has and never will, we were very lucky with Yao, Francis & Mobley (late 2nd round pick). That was actually quite a foundation, too bad Rudy allowed the two to play iso / streetball and relax on defense which killed our chances of any success. - Young coach who's not the best of the business but seems to have them playing well enough to win a championship some day. Similar to Rudy T, who didn't change much except for the Rockets focussing more on defense and buy into a inside-out system that luckily worked out well.
You heard it right here folks. Badlee would rather have mid-rd picks than the overall first. Do you even realize what it would take to get a team to trade that pick? Go ask Golden State, they would know.
Preach it Juan. Championships have been won by the #1 (or #2) pick many, many times over the past 30+ years. The last team to win a Championship with a cast of mid-round picks only was....? If the trio of mid-1st rounders wins a Championship for Houston, it'll be because they overachieved in HOU and were part of a trade bringing a Top Tier Lottery pick to town.
Initially, i am not ok doing this trade: Buter Gater, has a point, the dominant players and bring chips to team are not mid rounders. It's just that a lot if the top picks does not pan out. I guess, it will be: get a top pick = 50% chance of a chip, they really pan-out = chip. If they suck = bust, wasted pick. If they do ok, but not enough = trade for a top pick or add another top pick.
Did Anthony Davis stop Royce White when they played against each other in the tournament? That's right, no one could. So you would trade him plus two other 1st rounders in the deepest draft, since what '06, for the #1 pick?
Let's take another look at how your precious #1 pick and his team of stars did against our lowly #16 pick. http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=320770096
