The collars are very chic, it's popular in Europe nowadays. I like the cordon blue colors and personally enjoy the a la carte fabric. It's very stylish, or as the French say, macabre.
I was at a jersey store and tried on an authentic jersey with the flywire collar. While the jersey itself was nicer and felt more comfotable then I though, the flywire collar is really not suited for regular wear. I'm sure it does its job when worn over pads, but for everyday wear, the collar sticks out a few inches past your chest.
When I first saw pics like this one a few weeks ago, I was really worried. Myers looks like he has droopy man-boobs. The jersey looks so damn tight on him. When I saw them in the games, they didn't fit that tight so I barely even noticed the difference.
What gets me is how low the numbers seems to be on the front of the jerseys, because of the big collar.
The collars of the Texans are fine Other teams collars are god awful. The dual color collars that the Saints wore in the last game really looked terrible.
We are neither French, nor in Europe, nor canines, nor soccer players. I cannot believe this is even a topic of discussion... who gives a flying peanut about what we look like out there on the field, if a collar has some design or color, if we shave our pubes or get a buzz cut, as long as we win?
I remember seeing the collars and thinking they just plain ugly, but now after a few games, I don't even notice them. Especially when the players have their helmets on, it kind of evens them out, I actually like the new cut and fit of the uniforms.
