    Despite talks with the Lakers, Sonics and Jazz, free agent power forward Charles Barkley said he wants to remain with the Rockets and he hopes to have a deal signed within 2 weeks. Barkley told KRIV in Houston, "My preference, I want to stay with the Rockets and I hope everything works out. I'm flattered that other teams are interested, but I enjoy playing here in Houston."

Said Sir Charles after suggesting Scottie's heart is in the wrong place, "This whole thing really has pumped me up. I want to prove people wrong. I want to prove him wrong. This is a great challenge for me, because my manhood has been questioned. I don't want to let myself down. And I don't want to let the fans down, because they have been unbelievable to me. I want them to know that I would never, ever trade my experience in Houston."
