Pretty amazing story, never saw it before so wanted to share it for those who haven't seen it or need to see it again (with the whole drugs thread and everything). Makes me appreciate Stevie a lot more. He played with soul and is a good human being, I hope he turns it around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFu1FOVipAo
Drugs destroy good people, regardless of how good their "soul" is. It's sad, but you see these kind of stories each day. At least he's gotten enough star power to sorta ride out the remainder of his life. The same can't be said of many others
I'm from Vancouver, and all I remember about SF is how he pouted when he was drafted 2nd overall by the Grizzlies and never signed with Vancouver.
Why turn something positive into a negative? I said he played with soul, the game of basketball that is. Please read before you comment. I know there's plenty of stories like it, but people seem to forget Francis is good peeps and has been through stuff. It was more of a knock on the disrespectful way people have talked about him, I'm the first to admit to be guilty of this, and still do, see the help Francis thread.
I'm sure he was a great guy and all during his time here...but personal life aside, I really despised him on the court despite being so athletically gifted and flashy. When the trade happened, I was only heartbroken because the Cat left. As a player, I really didn't think a team could win a ship with him.
Sad to watch this honestly. But nonetheless, it's an inspiring story to see the rough home situation he came from even to have the opportunity to play at such an elite level. That's one of the great benefits of this country.
You sound like a cheesy anti-drug commercial trying to sound sympathetic. Drugs didn't ruin his career, injuries + Meniere's Disease did. He used drugs to cope, but got rehabbed. His life isn't "destroyed". Drama queen.
Drugs didn't keep him out of the nba at first. It was injuries. Couldn't adjust his game after his athletic ability was gone and he couldn't play a team game.
dude got paid and made good investments.. i'd say his life is successful. definitely not a story of failure
This is a story of success. Not failure. Steve's had some low points recently and its a roller coaster but hey, no story in the world is a fairy tale.. On average this is a very successful story
Miss watching this man play in a Rockets uniform. Best of luck to you Stevie Houston will always be your home
That was a good video on Francis. But this one is a more heart felt touching one on the Houston Rockets and Hakeem. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nB3iIviCIMg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I actually saw Steve at a gas Station Yesterday on I-10. I have seen him before at Lifetime, but this time the guy lost a LOT of weight. He even lost some muscle mass. I actually had to look real hard to convince myself that he was Franchise.
