That writer spoke like a typical NYK fan. Lol. NY let Lin go because they don't think he's a 15m a year player? Yeah right! Did he also imply that Lin will put up some "empty stats"? Why would his efficiency decrease in Houston? Because NY had "better players" for Lin to play with? So how could he explain why Lin's efficiency drop when those "better players" come back to the lineup last season?
Lin's contract would not have the 15m term if the Knicks didn't ask him to test the market and offered him a 24.5M 4 year contract. Knicks fans and medias don't want to admit it because they have to support for this teaM. For Knicks and Rockets, Lin is not the plan A. They wanted to sign Nash and Dragic respectively.
Lol at Dragic being Rockets' Plan A. If he's really their Plan A, their PG of future, you really think they would let him go for nothing because of a petty player option?
Lin's numbers only depend on his usage. Anyone with semi scoring ability in the nba can score 30 ppg if he wants. But if it comes with bad efficiency and the team suffers as a result, who cares? But Lin's not that kind of the player to jack up shots in a meaningless way. But one thing that writer was sure wrong is that Lin's efficiency won't decrease in Houston. Actually his efficiency will improve because he now has teammates who are willing and bother to space the floor!
Dragic was plan A. Our cheap ass front office didn't give a 4th season player option, Phoenix did. Our front office also has a policy of not discussing or giving out extensions (unless you're Yao). Lowry should be the plan A, but of course he got on Mcfail's **** list.
The fact is, The Rockets had not called Lin at 12:01 on July 1, and had not been aggressively recruiting him until the Dragic negotiation ended.
The fact is: The Rockets gave Lin an aggressive offer and didn't give an aggressive one to Dragic. Of course they had to meet Dragic, just to please some irrational Dragic homers. They also said they wanted to sign back Camby, Lee as well as Dragic. Of course they let them all go.
The fact that they're cheap on Dragic clearly showed that he was not their "Plan A". Lol. I didn't see the Rockets FO being cheap giving Asik and Lin 15m each in that 3rd year or paying huge amount of money to amnesty Scola for a slim chance of getting Dwight. For Lowry, how could you call someone "Plan A" when the FO traded him at the first chance possible?
Why do you think Lin only met the Rockets and never even bothered to visit Toronto or Dallas or other places (those who were supposed to call him at 12:01)? Clearly, he knew that those teams made him their No 2 target and the Rockets made him their No 1 all along!
First of all, the kid wasn't even drafted. This gives him a unique mental edge. Instead of coming into the league feeling entitled, or like he's already one of the best in the country, he's got something to prove. To himself, and to everyone else. His modesty suggests he's not in it to impress other people as much as... this is a blessing, and he would do it and God injustice to not make the most of it, and become the best he can possibly be. His high character, dedication, discipline, and tenacity are the x-factors that got him here; and they'll determine his ceiling. I can't tell you what that may be, but I can say I'm convinced he'll reach closer to his fullest potential than most will in the NBA. No doubt this youngin squad's gonna be fun to watch Rocket rebirth rookie mode 2.0 <On>
Just to be straight... "the fact that they're cheap on Dragic clearly showed that he was not their 'Plan A'" Who did they give a contract offer to first? Lin or Dragic? If Phoenix didn't offer the 4th year player option, and Dragic stayed in Houston, would you still say Goran wasn't "plan A?" The Rockets are giving Asik and Lin that money because they have to meet salary floor requirements. With cap hits of 8 million per, I wouldn't say they aren't being cheap for pretty good point guard and a elite defensive center. As for Lowry, I said he "SHOULD" have been plan A all along. If it weren't for our coach, he would still be here. He's the best pg out of the 3 (Lin and Dragic), and has a favorable contract.
Let me ask you this.... Morey pathetically tweeting fans to show love for Dragic and getting his brother to play for our summer league team was all a ploy to get Jeremy Lin?
Lin didn't meet with the Raptors or the Mavericks because those teams were not going to offer competitive offers because the Knicks kept on saying they would match. Morey was the only GM ballsy enough to force the Knicks to put there money where there mouth was. I think the Mavericks probably regretted it later when they realized that the Knicks were not as committed to Lin as they had thought. Remember the mavericks wanted Lin since he came out of college. During the draft, the Mavs called Lin and told him that I want you on my summer league. The Mavs owner also took him out to dinner matter of fact because they liked his game. Lin was on Morey's radar but I disagree that he was there plan A all along.
Great point about Morey. Never will understand the hate he receives on this board. Nice story about the mavs. Keep in mind morey started to going to work on re-obtaining lin after he received a phone call from les after the raptors/knicks finish.
Lin is better than Dragic. He's younger and should grow better with the team. Dragic has the white demographic and European market though.
Dragic Ball-handling, FG%, FT%, 3pt%, sample size LIN 4thQuarter, Rebounds, Steals, off-court effect, Draw fouls They are the same group of rising PG. Time will tell who is better. Only medias and haters compare Lin to elite PG. Lin had a good game against D-Will and a bad game against Claimer. It doesn't mean anything.
Well obviously no one from the rockets contacted anyone in the knicks org. or anyone assoc. with jlin. But Les made it a point to target Lin in the offseason. I respect Les and Morey a lot. The rockets will be a winning franchise. Don't get it twisted.
The fact is Lin, Asik, Lamb, Jones, White and others new or previous in the roster is plan 'Final'. No DH yet, maybe later.
