OK, this question stems from the ROY thread in the game action forum. The only NBA title team I can think of that had 2 ROY winners are the 1999 Spurs....any others?
Off the top of my head, I believe Oscar Robertson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar were both rookies of the year and both won a title on the same team (Milwaukee Bucks).
Both Elgin Baylor and Wilt were on the Lakers team that won the title in 72. Both were ROYs. However, Baylor retired early in the season. Not sure if that counts. Probably doesn't.
A few more: Bob McAdoo and Jabbar, both ROYs, won titles with the Lakers in 82 and 85. Jamaal Wilkes (ROY in 1975) and Jabbar played on the 1980 and 1985 Laker Championship teams. Mitch Richmond (ROY in 1989) and Shaq (ROY in 1993) won a title together last year.
There are many ROYs teaming up but you have to remember these: Ewing and Mark Jackson Iverson and Coleman Miller and Hill Richmond and Webber but there have been at least 4 occurrences of 3 ROYs, what are they?
Steve Francis and Yao Ming 2003-04 Houston Rockets Presently though, I think Codell has got it all covered. Presently, only one duo has a chace to join that list: Coleman ('91) and Iverson ('97) A very rare occurence indeed
