Hahahah, no. The Rockets Bobcats' second rounder is more valuable than the Lakers' trash first rounder.

Is there really a cap in the NBA?

we freaking rebuild you douche, Kennedy! we develop the talent we already have and we build through the draft lotto next year. We should have a couple of cracks at a top 5 pick, plus we should be able to move Martin for something valuable. We should also have plenty of cap-room to max out a young stud big like Ibaka. Rockets total rebuild addition starts now! (copyright by Bima)

Until the NBA uses the NFL's salary cap structure, the league will continue to be a joke. The NFL has it right. Your team actually has a chance to become a playoff team quickly.

Come on Sammy, go on out and buy your ticket, man. It's going to be a fun season. I promise you. Dwight Howard wasn't the end all be all for the Rockets. I know you don't see it now, but the Rockets really have a bright future.

And FWIW, that top-20 protected is starting to look like a 2018 unprotected. Dallas will still make the playoffs this year, but they are probably 7th/8th seed. Now that Howard has landed in LA, it hard to imagine him going to Dallas, which is what Dallas was banking on.

Seriously, you are one dumb fool if you think we are better off with the players we have, and that goes for every anti-howard supporter. You dont understand basketball PERIOD if you think this is for the good. Every asset we got was to make a deal now they r just clustered in some sort of way thats just magically supposed to work? the sad thing is we wont even be in the 5-7 worst teams in the league.....NBA=PATHETIC, from how stupid this deal is iam still holding out some sort of pointless hope...

No it doesn't there are a handful of superstars in the league, and if you don't have one of them you can't win. Even if there was a hard cap there is still only 5 or so real superstars.

Well, doesn't matter now, they didn't deal with us. Who knew what we were offering anyways? Our actual offer could have been worse than this one. Morey ain't giving up the goods for a rental. I think he was low balling and low balled himself out the game.

But why would the Lakers even care. That's the problem with the new CBA, if you're going to be a contender, (especially from a large market) you couldn't care less about the stupid luxury tax. Until there's a franchise tag, hard cap and David Stern stops rigging everything, this league is going to be competing with the WWE to see who can be more predicatable!

So what if we suck this year man? There will be 3 superstar's in next year's draft(Zeller,Noel,Muhammad) if we suck as bad as you think and I think we will,.we are going to end up with one of those three.

So the NBA blocks our trade last year saying it's unfair and all that crap and then they let this one go down. I don't hate the Lakers as a lot of people on this board, but even I think this is ridiculous. All that talk about the new CBA this and trying to prevent Super teams was a bunch of bull. At this point I would not have mind him going to Brooklyn, at least it would have been a new team.

Might as well just have a four team NBA, and let the others go and form their own league. The problem is it's the same in baseball as well with teams like The Yankees and Red Sox are always going to be on top and competitive.

Kobe,Nash and Gasol have a smaller window...

They are beyond their prime, could still play for a title, but for how many years?

Player ad contracts are the biggest difference with the NBA. Players in MLB/NFL don't get the big endorsement deals that NBA players do.

He opted in his final year of the ORL deal to gurantee himself 30 more mill instead of just walking to brooklyn freely. I think its pretty pbvious he would have stayed wherever he was traded to.

As for having a shot at the "potential" superstars in next years draft...theres no way we will be that bad with the signings of lin and asik , we are just back to square one but in a lesser manner, say 8-12 pick for the next 4 years...
