Thoughts on Finch? Has under-talented GBR playing much better than expected. Morey says he's there to support Finch. Wonder if Morey is there to evaluate his head coach potential. Also, when will the Rockets trade for Luol Deng?
Possibly everything you said is true. If I put my armchair GM cap on I think Luol Deng is on Morey's sights this year if the Dwight thing never pans out. As for thoughts on Finch? The Rockets have had great assistants under their coaches in the past. It would not surprise me if the best coach on the team is one of the assistants.
I thought Luol would be the perfect SF to put next to Lin, Lee, Montiejunas, and Asik. Well, Lee is out now, but we can still get 4 out of 5.
That would have been a CD/Rudy move; and I hope not before his wrist is repaired (or after, frankly).
Pretty terrible coaching down the stretch today. His players had no idea what to do the entire final minute. Fouling at horrible times, not fouling at the worst time.

It's almost as if Finch had to leave the bench at the worst possible time. Wonder what happened? Spoiler

I recall one of the issues that led Adelman and Morey to not see eye to eye on RA's new contract was Morey was insisting that RA groom a successor as a coach in waiting and RA felt that Turner and Porter were just that but Morey disagreed. I assumed that Finch was who Morey had in mind which is why Finch got called up from coaching the Vipers to being an assistant under McHale. I never read anywhere that McHale and Finch had a relationship before the Rockets so his promotion onto McHale's staff, I assume, was Morey's doing to have a home grown successor in case or for when McHale moves on.
