Heard on 610 that Kubiak expects Watt to be back by the season opener.

    HAHA

People keep saying he's not athletic. Did y'all not remember he played Tight End when he was in high school and freshman year in college?

    Lol @ ubigred.

Looks like Crick may get a chance to show what he's got. But I hope Watt's injury is nothing more than a camp nick.

    Thanks for the mature reply.

    You are correct . I like Watt , a lot actually . I just don't love him.

You are underselling Aaron Smith. That dude is the single reason that they beat Colts to go to the Super Bowl and his play against the Cardinals was remarkable. He played in an era when teams ran the ball a lot more. Justin Smith might have been a better example.

Back to Watt , I just don't think he has the athleticism and explosive first step to get high sack numbers (9-11). I expect his production to improve from his rookie year
, but not to astronomical levels (at any point in his career ie T.Suggs). He also needs develop a countermove to the bull rush.

Yea the play in the playoffs was great ( I wished ran into the stands , flags and all), but Dalton is small in stature and Watt is a giant . GREAT play nonetheless.

I know its not Clutchfans tradition, but what's wrong with me taking the wait and see approach (based off performance) , before polishing his bust in Canton?

What was it like, listening to football on the radio and watching grainy black-and-white footage way back in... 2011?

I hope you realize that his lack of 'astronomical' sack totals is more of a function of his role within the defense and has nothing to do with his (perceived by only you) lack of explosion.

And Suggs plays a different position, genius. He plays the one that gets the 'astronomical' sack totals.

And Palmer was/is the Raider's QB.

Please stop trying to talk football, for the love of god.

He actually intercepted Andy Dalton in the playoffs, Carson Palmer was sitting at home with the rest of the "Raidas" watching.

He was obviously hampered by injuries and old age by then. The last 3 years teams have been throwing the ball all over the place. Look how many QBs that are throwing for 4,000 yards.

You know what I meant. Minor mistake.

    Thanks for the correction though.

Suggs (plays primarily on the line)
    Justin Smith
    Calais Campbell
    Randy Starks
    Darnell Docket
    Ray McDonald
    Ziggy Hood
    Ty Warrren

All are better than Watt, as they should be since he just completed his rookie season. I expect him to improve each season. I just don't see ALL-PRO or DPOY. If he does, reach either level , good for him and the TEXANS.

Hell if anyone wants to place a $100 bet, I'm all for it.

I wish Watt not a good season , but a GREAT ONE.

If this causes JJ to miss a lot of time...

When Suggs plays on the line he's still on the outside. He's either playing 3-4 OLB or 4-3 end when he has his hand in the dirt, completely different than Watt's position/role. I'll gladly disagree with some of the guys you mentioned being better than Watt, especially Ziggy Hood.

Fair point, though they move guys all over the line.

Who would you disagree with, outside of Ziggy Hood?

I think Dockett is past his prime as of today. He's still good but the way Watt continued to improve all the way until the end of the playoffs, I would say JJ is better. Starks and McDonald (who plays in a traditional 4-3) I would say is not as good as Watt. Everyone else you can make a case for and come out with better or not better than Watt. Justin Smith, there is no case. He is one of the best players in the NFL out of all of the positions.

You guys need to quit underrating our players. Your bad mojo is getting them hurt. Somebody was talking bad about Andre Johnson the other day and he got hurt. Yesterday it was Duane Brown. Today it's JJ Watt.
