What players and picks do you think we'd need to dangle to tempt Atlanta into trading Smith? Or 76ers with Iggy?
I like the idea of trading for Evan Turner but I think it takes more than that to get it done. KMart + Morris + Dallas Pick for Evan Turner should do it. This clears up a little space on our team and allows us to continue the rebuild that it appears we are headed to. Same package + patterson for Derrick Williams + Barrea would make sense as well. Lin/ Douglas Turner/Lamb Parsons/ White Patterson / Dmo/ Jones Asik/ DMo Lin/Douglas Lamb/ Barrea Parsons/ Williams / White Williams / Dmo / Jones Asik / Dmo That's a solid young team for sure
re Iggy --- I think it would take something like Martin+Donatas+TJones. Basically, [cap space or ~10 mil expirings] + [one or two quality prospect bigs]. Smith would probably be more expensive than Howard. Danny Ferry will probably go hard at a star this summer (Howard, CP3, Harden, anyone available), and try to build his own version of "big 3" (Smith, Horford, player X). I don't think he gives up Smith unless it's for a star or for ridiculous amount of assets.
This makes no sense whatsoever for the Pacers. First of all, they were a 50 win team basically. And they did almost get to the conference finals. If they don't run into Miami (or Miami is injured again), they have a good shot. More importantly, how does the trade help? Granger > Martin. Cap space --> are they getting a superstar? They could make an offer to CP3, but he won't go there, so what's the point? And then what? They could have 20 mil cap space next year, if they give up Granger and let go David West and Tyler Hansbrough. When they don't get CP3, are they going to get adequate replacements for those guys for 20 mil? No. This is a "back to the lottery" move for them.
you mean as a free agent in a few years? I don't really see a trade that makes sense. Gasol for Iggy? Gasol is the better player, not to mention the Lakers would probably be under-utilizing Iggy's play making skills.
I would love to see Luol Deng in a Rockets uniform. We need some character veterans to mentor the young players, and he's young enough (26-27) to still be in his prime when the kiddies hopefully evolve into something special. Always loved his game, which is underrated. He's sort of a Shane Battier with more offensive skill. Could a Kevin Martin for Deng trade work? Or Parsons + pick/extra players? Word is the Bulls-Deng relationship may have soured with his recent decision to play for Great Britain in the Olympics despite some injury issues. Might be an opportune time for the Rockets to step in.
The price tag for Derrick Favors is much higher then that IMO. Kid showed a lot of promise at the end of last season, and he still has crazy upside. I think It would have to look something like this for the Jazz to even consider it... Kevin Martin + P-Patt + either Royce White or T-Jones + Dallas 1st rounder for Derrick Favors + Mo Williams(bad contract)
Sorry, haven't been keeping up on Favors too much. I am just looking at players we could bring in that hold potential to grow and fit inside of our 4 rookies.
