Look at those beautiful mechanics. It's like poetry in motion. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5RTi77n9XaI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
oh lord, he bricked 70% of those with nobody around him. I would love to see mctalky and dawson work with d-mo and have the dream exclusively for Dwight.
The thing that sticks out to me the most is Donut's shooting arm, it almost looks like a sling shot. Yao's was all wrist, all the time, and it lead to him having an incredible touch around the rim. Another thing is the difference in footwork. Yao looked like he was drop stepping when he made a hook, Dmo is much closer to facing the basket with his. Overall, I feel like Dmo's hook shot is a lot closer to Chris Kamen's than to Yao's. With that said, I'm sure the coaching staff will change DMo's form over the course of his first 3 seasons, to closer emulate the hook Yao had. Is Jack Sikma still working with these kids? Or did he move out with Adelmen?
i see what your saying... but the closeness of the two leave me filled with optomism.. while donuts is almost always completely facing the basket at realease, yaos was pretty much the same also yet sometimes he'd keep his body in the way of blocking his shot... yao's footwork is better than donuts also, but dmo has some pretty nifty footwork himself... yao had such a deadly spin move, he used his opposite elbow to perfection to give himself spacing... something i hope and believe donuts will develop more... i see the slingshot motion you speak of, but he is young still and believe the coaching staff will try and get him to use only his wrist, but if its a good thing, its a good thing... the thing is is donuts has potential to have one of the best hooks in the game in a few years... something i hope happens, whether he is a rocket or not(i'd prefer he was)...
IMO the second most unstoppable move in history behind kareems hook is Dirks leg up fadeaway... He gets defended to perfection and still manages to sink it almost everytime... that being said yao had a nasty unstoppable hook... at 7'6" with arm fully raised and jumping, that release point and shot is extremely hard to defend...
