again it could be the owner that is saying he wants to be loyal to Dwight and make something happen to BKN and it cant happen now maybe later

if the owner is -- then if there are any minority owners they need to step in or the new GM should go back to his old job as he'll be crippled to mold a team with the Nets trade and then has to deal with a huge mess he'll be blamed for but had no real control over.

I want to hear the context of that quote about Dwight returning. It was probably more of a, "Yeah, it's up to Dwight. If we can't find a situation that's right for both parties, it's definitely possible."

Please don't bring this child to Houston! I'm not interested in handing him millions of dollars, and then begging him to stay.

Sadly, I think we're all in a holding pattern until the next Dwight "leak" about where he wants to go. I think that may be the reason for the bull**** from Dwight's camp about the "coaching search" stalling talks - they're trying to plan their next move and I'm guessing they asked Hennigan for some time. And Hennigan, of course, will go along with that request (within reason), considering he could potentially extract more value if Dwight shows a willingness to re-sign somewhere.

The good news is that it doesn't sound like we'll have a repeat of March. If Dwight were open to staying in Orlando, I think he would've expressed that today after learning of the disintegration of the Brooklyn deal. The best case for the Rockets is if Howard "expands" his list to its original three teams, which included LA and Dallas. Because the Magic clearly aren't comfortable with Bynum sticking around, and the Mavs have basically nothing of value to offer. So whether it be Howard or Bynum, the Rockets would still be in prime position.

As long as it's not a wild card team, I think we're in good shape.

    Yes it is.

This Dwight Howard stuff has been the reason supposedly for all of our moves.

It affects our draft picks because as of right now we have about 10 or 11 forwards.

Point is the Roster right now is not a assembled team, it's a collection of assets meant to entice the Magic to give us Howard. Now the Rockets should go back to building a team to put out there on the court.

I say we don't even play our rookies during summer league so Orlando can't get a free sneak peak...

This is my main concern. Something like the Knicks offering Melo and Chandler for Dwight and Hedo. If the owner of the Magic wants to skip the rebuild and try to compete, he might sign off on something like that.

I'd really like to know what Morey offered w/o a contract extension. If Morey made an offer of picks + players comparable to the 4 picks + Lopez the Net's are rumored to of offered, I don't think that's a bad haul for a player who won't sign a contract extension.

I believe this, otherwise Hennigan is a complete idiot. Going forward, there will be less bidding from other teams for Howard and the Magic will get less in return than is available now.

Orlando's last at bat for retaining Howard is when they hire a new coach. If Dwight approves, he might sign and stay now that the Brooklyn dream is dead.

The Rockets need to play some hardball...tell the Magic that they will withdraw their offer tomorrow at 5 pm in order to focus on the current players they have.

When tomorrow's deadline comes without any word from the Magic, we can just tell them we were kidding...and then extend the deadline another 24 hours.

    Rinse and Repeat.
