Don't see it..especially the part of trying to fill the SF spot. Morey is trying to find a 4 that's more like a SF, not the other way around.
Say what you want. I guarantee you, GUARANTEE you parsons is staying. He has way too much potential to be traded when we have so many other pieces. He will be our 3rd option eventually. And man. I am in love with how parsons plays

I agree Morey is looking for a good wing -he'd rather parsons be a bench guy ...but athletic long wings (I.e. Wallace, gay, batum, granger, and LBJ). This position is as important as having a big man, and about equal to having a great PG with great IQ-the wing is a very important need for this team-along with a C and a PG ...but I think we will get the C...parsons is to me not the steady wing we are thinking of, but he did grow this season, soph. Wall might apply tho next year since next yr won't have an * next to games played due to lockout... So yup I've been thinking the same thing morey is looking for a long athletic guy that can play SF mostly, or PF if go a bit small
Please explain to me why it makes any sense to compare the per minute production of two players who are apples and oranges when it comes to the actual minutes they play. You can't compare a guy who plays 10 mpg with a guy who plays 30 mpg on a per minute basis and extrapolate it out and say ta-da! Not to mention the other issue already brought up.
well per 48 min and per 30 min stats are about doing the same thing. Estimating production if a player were to play the same amount of mins.. that put them on an even playing field. When you do that you can get an Apple to Apple comparison of what their production would be given the times were all the same. There are flaws to what I originally posted but I was looking at video and play from both of their college years. I didn't find a lot of info on Leuer in the NBA so my thought process was based on things that I saw from his Pre NBA play.
Dude played for the USA select team, which goes up against the USA national team with all the all-stars. He said he learned alot going against those guys and felt he could compete with them, all this while he was still in college. Looks like this guy might have some game, and I agree he is a 4, definetly not a 3.
No, that analysis is fundamentally flawed because it ignores one major fact. People DON'T perform the same in 28 minutes as they do in 12 minutes, necessarily. Maybe some do, maybe some don't. But statistically, you can't assume that to be the case and then do analysis off of that assumption. This is the same, imo, with comparing something like PER. It is very useful to compare players "in the same class". Brandan Wright's PER of 21.7 last year was 22 best in the league and better than Kyrie Irving, Carmelo, Josh Smith, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, Roy Hibbert, etc, etc. But I don't think he is on those guy's level. Rather, I'd compare him to players who had a similar role as him - 16 mpg off the bench - and conclude he is REALLY REALLY good at that. I then could argue he deserves a little bit more playing time to see if he could keep that up over longer stretch of time. But I CERTAINLY wouldn't expect him to play at that level if he played twice the minutes. And again, this all ignores the other comments. Leuer is not a a SF, but a big. Leuer isn't nearly the defender Parsons is. final comment, when doing per minute comparison, I believe the standard minutes usage to use is 36 minutes, not 48 or 30. Per 36 minutes seem to be what most analysts use.
They are nothing alike. They play different positions there for different skill sets. Though Leur isnt the defensive specialist at his position he isnt soft though, he doesnt back away from contact. (Scola)
Parsons seems to think that Leuer was a great get. And I also believe that Leuer will be a stretch big.
