If we get Dwight I don't think Courtney Lee is going anywhere.

If they don't get Dwight I think he will be gone. If they do, they'll keep him. He fits exactly with what Daryl was talking about on the radio. If you have the foundation piece in place you can give out contracts to ancillary players that limit your flexibility. If you don't have the player, you can't because you need to stay flexible to add that guy at some point.

Then you will be disappointed... in a S&T scenario, in the current environment he is not worth a #1 in the 12-18 area...

Understand Courtney Lee wants to play for Celtics, but what's more he wants to get paid. Have to figure out sign & trade to make it happen.

Just to walk you through a hypothetical sign-and-trade deal involving Courtney Lee to the Boston Celtics:

If Courtney commands a four-year deal paying him an average salary of $7 million per season, his starting salary would be approximately $6.56 million.

That would mean that Boston (which either is or desires to be over the cap in order to use its salary cap exceptions on other players) must send out at least $4.3 million in salary to Houston (or to a third team).

    [$4.3M * 1.5] + $100k = ~$6.56M

If the Celtics offer up their two remaining non-guaranteed contracts--E'Twaun Moore and Sean Williams--that leaves Boston with another $2.63 million or so in outgoing salary to produce.

The source of that additional salary would most likely come from a sign-and-trade of Keyon Dooling, who can be signed for approximately that amount (or possibly more) without any Base Year Compensation issues. However, Dooling's deal must be for three years, with at least the first season fully guaranteed. (There is some chance that one of the Celtics' rookies--Jared Sullinger or Fab Melo--might be included, but I highly doubt that.)

In order for the Rockets to both (a) facilitate making Courtney Lee a Celtic and (b) taking on a minimum of $2.63 million in guaranteed money owed to Dooling, Houston would expect some additional compensation in the form of draft picks.

The Celtics own all of their own future first and second round picks and also hold the rights to future second rounders from Charlotte (2013), Minnesota (2013) and Brooklyn (2014).

The Rockets will most likely want at least one of Boston's future first rounders. Failing that, they will likely want that 2013 Charlotte second rounder, which is likely to be essentially as good as a very late first rounder (if not better, since that pick does not come with the same salary guarantees that a late first rounder would).

In the end, I think you'll see any Courtney Lee S&T deal to Boston (if any) look something like this:

    Boston receives: Courtney Lee
Houston receives: Keyon Dooling, E'Twaun Moore, Sean Williams, future BOS first round pick

That anyone still believes that DH is coming to Houston, boggles my mind. If we get a P & B sammich for Courtney I'll be happy. Nothing at all for Dragic.

Question not for me, but if we are clearing out rookies and/or picks for Dwight/Bynum, Sullinger would not be bad.
