What is the best way to stay cool? I soak myself in cold water before bed but I can't sleep in a bathtub.

buy a box fan. They are like 20-30 bucks.

hang dark bed sheets over the windows to block the heat.

    get naked

I'm sorry man. I grew up in a broke ass family and dealt with this. I couldn't sleep it was so hot. I would just sleep in the coolest room in the house. Even if it was on the floor.

Box fan or window unit homie. Good luck

    Thanks, will do that.

Actually this is not home, just staying here for a few weeks, but did not anticipate this. I'm in the Midwest at the Canadian border, it's not supposed to be this hot!

Sleeping on a tiled floor with just your pillow is good. If you can stand the aching body in the morning, that is.

Or you can watch The English Patient or Twilight when you're ready to sleep. You'd be out in less than 5 minutes. If not, you'll get your money back.

Sell your laptop and buy a window unit.

A box fan, white sheet instead of a blanket... Use the reflective materials used in car windows (foil material) to block sun and heat.

    Lie down later at night.

You will get more used to with time.

This is about as good as it gets. It helps some, but it isn't great. Sleeping when it's hot like that is the worst.

You are going to have crappy quality sleep, and there isn't too much you can do about it.

Cold shower, don't dry off afterwards, and the ice in front of the fan will help a little bit. But sadly there isn't much that can be done.

build yourself a swamp cooler and use blocks of ice. (can use 2liter bottles or tupperwear to make ice blocks) I went through the same thing growing up (running CRT's at LAN parties at my house generated a LOT of heat, esp in Houston), luckily I had a door to attic space in my bedroom and rigged up a window unit ejecting hot air into the attic. I had to use a drip pan too. You can also try a dehumidifier which doesn't lower the temp but it will feel cooler. Another thing I learned from my foster years living in mobile homes.. Kind of like when we used to cover the floor vents with our blankets. lol you can use mylar and basically pump cold air around you trapping the cold air next to your body.

redneck AC's are handy when camping too. If you don't have access to electricity, you can use a 12v fan and battery packs. They should last a good while.. at least overnight.

this is basically the concept.. just use a hose to eject the cool air on you while you sleep.

Soak a teeshirt, and fall asleep. The evaporating water will cool you off.

To add on to what magnetik said, here's a redneck AC that you can build for less than $20. Start freezing water now. link

Where exactly are you? Is there electricity? Ceiling fan? Any fan?

Try sleeping closer to the ground (hot air rises)
