Agreed. But, I see Yao is more of an ambassador to China and basketball. That alone would consider Yao in the HOF. Plus was drafted #1 on 2002 and had a decent career excluding injuries. I see Lin more of a phenom that defied odds and created a name for himself out of nowhere. Regardless, they both have put a stamp on the NBA one way or another IMO.

    Republic of China.
Founded after Chiang Kai-Shek was exiled from the mainland by the communist party.

Well that is easy, it's called TAIWAN...

Now if you're actually asking what GOVERNMENT LEGALLY governs Taiwan, Taiwans independence was released by China in 1945 by the United Nations by adopting Charters 77 and 76 of the Atlantic Charter, which was signed by China and most of the states in the world.

    Taiwan does...

Simply because China refuses to let Taiwan go, doesn't really solidify their claim...

That is incorrect, Formosa was the name China used to name the territory of Taiwan that they claimed was theirs.

    Yes.
Taiwan was occupied by the exiled Nationalist Party while all of mainland China was left to be governed by the Communist Party. They're both Chinese, but I'd assume that the population of the two countries have some sort of tension between them.

Same situation with North and South Korea. I'm pretty sure if a Korean NBA star ever popped up (not likely, Koreans suck at basketball) the South and the North would both "claim" him.

He said the official name, so I assumed he meant the legal name. Legally, its called the Republic of China.

Gotcha, I was assuming he ment what was declared for as territorial property in the charter...which was Formosa

But to most people Republic of China is the name they will remember yes.
