The problem is it's passed down as well. Also if you live somewhere like Oklahoma or rural Texas where there aren't many black people it's not hard for such opinions to persist for generations.

Have lived all over the USA and Europe... Texas isn't especially racist compared to many places I have lived (Illinois, Maine, Florida).

People don't hate Obama because he is black. That's just stupid. They hate him because he is a liberal and a democrat. If Obama was right wing, they would love him. There would be no birthers, no Rev Wright, no fast n furious, no Obamacare. If Obama was a republican they'd call him the Black Ronnie. But he's not a Republican, therefore they hate him.
