I think taking Morris to play small forward was a risk. As far as Leonard vs Zeller, I would be very happy with either one. It sounds like Zeller could step in and contribute immediately, although I don't think that is all that important to the Rockets.
I seriously doubt it too , I think you have to get in front of New Orleans at 10 , Portland at 11 and Milwaukee at 12 if you want Leonard - Any one of those teams will take him presented with the opportunity. New Orleans just dumped Okafor and Kaman's deal has expired. He'll be expensive to resign. Portland could use another big next to Aldridge - would make a very big frontline there. Milwaukee moved Bogut and needs a replacement. They wont roll with Larry Sanders .... Detriot could also take himat #9 to pair with Greg Monroe.
this, please don't pick Zeller. he will no doubt be a solid nba player but i don't think he is what we need.
I don't know why, but when I think of Leonard and Zeller, my mind goes back to the 2000 draft and I think of the Przbilla/Collier situation.
Leonard has the potential to be at least another Brook Lopez. Zeller has almost no shot of being anything more than a good reserve. This said, I'm not against the notion of keeping both picks and drafting Zeller as well as Melo (Leonard is gone by 11 or 12, IMO). Let them go through summer league and camp, and see which can handle minutes next to Camby and which is spending the year with the Vipers. Hopefully, we can at least come away with one guy that can be part of the solution at the 5. Best case, we get a two headed monster splitting the minutes ably.
I'm high on both, but if I had to choose I'd go with Leonard. Although I'd be happy with either one, they both have the talent to be above average center's.
The Caveman and the Amish one can go. Just don't touch the "White Trinity": Dragic, D-Mo, and Parsons.
i personally like the idea of having our very own hansbrough-like player coming off the bench for us at the center position. AND hes an 80% ft shooter wow! although leonard's 73% ft percentage isnt too shabby either but im pretty sure the rockets are going to pick high upside players rather than safe solid players, meaning if they had the choice between the two, it would probably be leonard. i think this is the right thing to do since they have invested so much in their player development (RGV, mchale, finch, the bought 2nd rounders, all these players they sign on just to play for their d-league team/summer league team etc etc)
I say Zeller mainly because he is a known quantity. However, Leonard has the potential. I guess the main reason I'm going for Zeller is because at one point I thought Thabeet's potential was worth the risk of picking him high in the draft. We all see how that turned out
Zeller has already reached his potential while Meyers has not that is why I want to take him instead.
Unless we can persuade Toronto to trade #8 for Lowry and #16 (and Morey as well), there is no way Meyers slips to #14. Then we can draft a backup PG to spell Dragic (please re-sign him, Morey).
