I don't see them winning a championship ever with the way that roster is now. They seriously need to consider blowing it up. trade durant to houston and start the rebuilding process early
obviously that team is way too old, they need to trade everyone and rebuild from this draft (I hear its 30 deep with surefire superstars)
Get Eric Maynor healthy and jettison Fisher. Also... I pretty much agree with this. There may be issues with moving Westbrook to SG though. His skillset is far more consistent with the SG role than the PG role...but he may be a bit undersized to consistently play the 2 in the NBA. Most NBA SGs are bigger than him. It's really frustrating to watch the Thunder offense grind to a halt when Westbrook puts dents in the hardwood with all his dribbling.
Westbrook is 6'4'' in shoes with 6'8'' wingspan, about the same size as Bradley Beal and Eric Gordon. He is definitely big enough to play SG. The issue is whether you want to take away the size advantage that he has against most PGs and the mismatch potential created with him, Durant and Westbrook. That said, perhaps Westbrook will benefit playing next to a true PG for a least a portion of the game, kind of like what the Rockets tried to do with Steve Francis and Moochie-- hopefully with someone much more talented than Moochie running the point. How often did Westbrook play next to Maynor before he got hurt and how did they do? Curious to see. Also, if OKC wants to make Westbrook more of a SG and employ a PG to run the show, I wonder if they'd do trade of Harden+Perkins for Lowry+Dalembert+14th pick. This should also give them (a) the cap flexibility to retain Ibaka (and 2 years later, Lowry), (b) a pick that could be used to draft a big man who may become a competent Perkins replacement at a much cheaper price.
They should trade their big 3 for top lottery picks. And then hope those lottery picks become the next Lebron, Wade, and Bosh.
no, they rebuilt and gained the necessary assets so mike miller could have the proper tools to carry that team.
When this happens, it's usually because OKC has telegraphed to the defense they want KD to get the ball at all costs, so they deny him the ball at all costs. WB gets far too much criticism for what the real problem is: OKC's offensive philosophy can be summed up as Basic Playground. They need a coach who will put his players in better positions to succeed. Instead, the Thunder rarely move without the ball and cut to the basket. It's isolation or PnR repeatedly. Another example: Kendrick Perkins. He's a better player now than he ever was in Boston but Brooks asked him to do things he's not capable of. Doc had no problem sitting Perk down when it wasn't working but Brooks won't do that. In another thread, a member said Perkins is the new Jeff Green. That is a very good comparison except Perkins actually does one thing very well: Defend low post Cs. The Heat have no such thing, but that didn't stop Brooks from leaving Perkins in when he couldn't guard anybody while also being a huge negative on offense at the same time. His response was: "Perk sets great picks".
I think the Morey should help them out and do the following trade: Kyle Lowry Chase Budinger 2013 2nd round pick for Eric Maynor Thabo Sefolosha Kendrick Perkins 2012 1st round pick (#28)
Cole Aldrich*. But yeah they should give him more run and see what they've got. Perkins isn't really cutting it.
good one... why doesn't miami trade lebron to us.... because he is done winning his only championship
