FWIW there is a large market for pre-owned watches. He can sell it there for probably about half of what he paid. Hell...he should probably just buy a used watch if he isn't just screwing around with this thread.

If this is only a temporary watch, just forgo wearing any timepiece in front of your friends until you can afford the higher end watch you want.

If you absolutely need a chronograph watch until then, get a good-value model under $300 like a Citizen AT2050-56E or Seiko SNAE47.

I gotta say man, don't buy a nice watch because of your coworkers. Get one b/c you want one. Don't get something in the meantime, wait to get the one you want. F anyone who clowns on you otherwise.

Most everyone likes nice things. Some spend more than others, but ultimately buy them b/c you want the stuff. Not because you care what the hell other people think.

Wait and get the Tag. I went with this one, I love it. If you care, I bought it because I told myself for YEARS, I would get one when I felt like I reached a certain point in my life/career. I reached it, so I treated myself.

One thing I learned with watches is that everybody has their own opinion and some people only have just 1 or 2 nice ones and that's all they ever wear no matter the occasion.

As for me I can't justify spending over $500 for a watch. For about $250 you can get a damn good watch that has a good name, movement, looks, style etc. I'd rather have 10 watches that I think are nice for the price of a Rolex. I guess I'm a sucker for variety. Now if I was a super baller and could have 10rolex's then that's another story.

OP I'd get these 3 for the price of either one you listed. I have the gold and gunmetal one. Super nice especially for the price point but that's just my opinion.

    a few things:

    1. http://www.jomashop.com/victorinox-chrono-classic-241282.html - practically the same watch you want (different colors) for a third of the price.

    2. don't ever buy michael kors watches. they are made by fossil but cost twice as much.

    3. tag heuer also uses "generic" swiss parts aka eta movements.

this is from the fossil website in the about us section....just in case you don't believe when i say michael kors watches are made by fossil:

if you are going to spend a good chunk of cash on a watch, go all the way and get a rolex. if you are going to cheap out, get a Seiko/Casio/Citizen. you might be surprised, but many baller watch collectors will have a casio g-shock in their collection.

I not a fan of either of those watches. It just seems like it tries to do too much. Just seem like something I've seen too many people wear from much cheaper brands that gives you a similar style.

Personally I wouldn't want to spend more than $100 on a watch (though I like wearing one, it is one of the few accessories guys can wear) but if I come in to a large sum of money and buying a good mid range watch, I'd look into this.

$850, seriously? Those are just too expensive watches to buy. I recommend you to buy a fossil watch because I have it and I really like it. I know you want high quality, but you should just save some money.

lol Burberry watches are also made by Fossil. You paid $400 to get "Burberry" stamped on a $100 Fossil watch. That's unfortunate.
