So far all I have seen him do is get grass stains in the outfield....without catching the ball too. Happened a couple times now. Don't forget never hitting the cutoff man and can't make contact on curveballs. What else did I miss?
Brilliant move having him bat 3rd. I guess Mills wanted his order in the lineup to match his number of strikeouts.
Yeah, I'm not sure what he was thinking having the rookie batting .091 in the 3-hole. He must have stranded 10 runners by himself tonight.
Is Dave Clark the worst 3rd base coach in baseball? I caught the Castro play right as he was getting thrown out but I'm going to guess he was sent by Clark.
He was sent. He stumbled a bit rounding third, but there was still no reason to send him. Would have been 0 outs, runners on 2nd and 3rd and their best hitter coming up.
Jason Castro is quietly coming around, his OBP is up to .341, and his OPS is up to .720. He got off to a slow start going 3-25 out of the gate, since then he's had an impressive .302/.374/.442 line. I've always thought of him as almost a can't miss, not a star, but an above average big league catcher, possibly more. He has always got on base at a high clip and I've hoped he would develop a little pop.
Yeah he's starting to look like the player he was drafted to be. I'd really like to see him start to catch 4 games instead of 3 but I get the injury concern. When Altuve leads off I'd like to see Castro bat 2nd and put Lowrie back in the 3 hole. Castro is a pretty good contact hitter and patient at the plate so I think he'd do good there.
That doesn't surprise me. I've watched him make so many horrible sends and stops. The only time I feel comfortable with Dave Clark's decisions is after someone hits a homerun.
As an aside to this statement.... Why the hell does Happ have his own catcher in Snyder? It would be nice to have Castro in the lineup tonight, but no, Happ has to have Snyder. I know Roy O used to have his own, but I would say he earned that privilege. What has Happ done to get this treatment?
His ERA ain't anything to write home about, but he is striking out more than one batter per inning. That's pretty impressive. He needs to cut down on the big innings, they're killing him. He's a lot like a young Wandy in that regard.
I realize he is pitching much better this year, but that still doesn't warrant having a personal catcher.

Would really like to see Paredes get the call but unfortunately will probably be Bixler for his versatility.
