Can somebody please explain the rules for the offense touching the ball above the cylinder? On one play last night, we shot the ball which floated above the cylinder. Yao had an oportunity to grab it and dunk it but he let it go. I just don't understand the rule. Thanks in advance!

Project an imaginary cylinder above the basket, if the ball is in that area, nobody can touch it. Offense or defense. To touch it the ball has to have fallen out of that space.

That's the NBA (and college) rule. Yao has to deal with the fact that in his rules, International rules, the same ball would have been alive for any to touch!

    NBA rule is better!

I thought the Wilt rule involved dunking more so than goaltending, but I guess it's the same.
