With all the ba luck we've had for several seasons, are we finally due and actually get extremely lucky with the ping pong balls this draft lottery? Fingers crossed! Come on basketball Gods, our team needs your help. 2 days to go!
2 days? With the 1.8% lotto odds, it would take more than 50 years for a 14th seed to win a top 3 pick.
We sure do love our 14th pick dont we. Back to back to back 14th picks.... That should be our new slogan.
Jynx on what? Seriously man, why do you still post if you don't have anything good nor constructive to say? Sure, blame the 1.8% chance of getting a top pick on the dude who made a thread regarding the draft lottery. Remember that we all root for the same team. If you choose to post to show everyone on here how to be cool by being a smart ass then that's your problem. But honestly, it's getting really lame and annoying. If you want to irritate people, why not go to a Jazz or a Mavs forum and be a smart ass there. Why pick on a fellow rocket fan?
Again, we got nothing to lose. If we stay picking 14th... It's cool. Everyone expected that result anyway. But if that 1.8% suddenly goes into top 3...
I've never really followed the lottery process. Can anyone explain how they determine which team gets which pick? Do they start with pick 14 and pick a team for that and just work to number 1?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Draft_Lottery Basically, there are lots of ping pong ball combinations and depending on the teams record, they get a certain number of combinations. The team that has the first combination gets the first pick. The team that has the second combination gets the second pick. The team that has the third combination gets the third pick. After that, the rest of the picks fall in order of worst record to best record.
They do lottery picks for the top 3 picks only and then the teams that are left fall in line to their prescribed order. If the rockets don't get get 1, 2, or 3 then they will get 14th.
As you probably already know this not a correct characterization of the system. However for the discussion on this board it is adequate.
I feel that my post, as short and unproductive as it was, had as much merit as your thread starting post. If you feel the need to waste bandwidth with garbage threads like this one why can't I? If anything why bring it up? Do you really think there will be a chance we get a top three pick? I would be happy if we did, but come on. It's like winning the lotto over here, it's not gonna happen anytime soon. Let me put it in terms even you could understand. What are the chances we convince dream to suit up and play one more season for us? Let's say they are approximately along the same lines as us winning the draft lotto. How many threads do you see started saying that we should offer dream a deal to play one season for us?... You go do that research and get back to me on it...
