It is useless to rail against the hype machine. Be sure in the knowledge that those who propound such ridiculousness are truly idiots and pay them not a second thought. Instead, revel in the glory and the sheer wonder of those two magnificent seasons, for they will never be duplicated.

you know the non Rocket fans will always diss the Rockets championships.
However, the newer Rocket fans here need to know the truth. We can't save the world, but we can save Clutchfans.

I still think newbs don't know why it's called Clutch fans, and it is for sure not any era after Dream.

Let me play devil's advocate here.

Simmons isn't saying the asterisk makes them illegitimate, he's saying what the majority of fans will remember those years by aren't the champions. He's correct in that statement.

It doesn't change the fact that the Rockets would have been the Bulls' worst nightmare in the finals, but it also doesn't change the fact that 45 =/= 23.

Chill with the Simmons hate. You can acknowledge all of these points and still be a Rockets fan.

I wish I could've been old enough to appreciate the glory days of the Houston Rockets.

If, per se, the Bulls managed to beat the Magic to advance to the ECF, how do you think the 7 game series would've played out in 1995?

Likewise, for those who could say, do you think the Rockets would've stood a chance in the '97 Finals if not for Stockton's dream-killing shot?

I think the Rockets take 95, almost no question, 97 is a toss up.

How about the first 20+ years of the NBA where the Celtics won 11 (talent level and lack of competition). I firmly believe any team today would kill those legendary Celtics teams. Players are more talented and athletic. The game has evolved and so have strategies.

But give those old teams the same advantages. Facilities, etc.

    Basketball trivia:

    1. What player scored the most points in a single game in 1995?

    2. What player scored the most points in a single playoff game in 1995?

Every year that MJ didn't play is an asterisk?

I guess Isiah playing on one leg wasn't enough to give the Lakers an asterisk in '88. Nor was the entire Laker starting 5 getting hurt enough to give the Pistons and Bulls asterisks in '89 and '91.

The Jordan thing doesn't bother me as much as the injury stuff. There are significant injuries literally every year.

Every one of the Celtics' championships except one should be asterisked, then, because Jordan didn't play then either.

Yeah Jordan was definitely pedestrian in the 95 Playoffs. He was so rusty he only averaged 32/7/5/2/1

I replied with MJ's quote about not being able to beat the Rockets. I figured it best to use an opinion on the subject that actually matters.
