That's one of the more blatant and brutal hits I've seen in years. Really hoping Harden's all right and Artest is suspended for at least five games for that one.

Pretty **** move no doubt. Harden did initiate unneccesary contact though but going out of his way to get in his path and body him up, sticking his forearm on Artest's chest.
This, people here are way too easy on this. Look at the replay and you can see by his facial expression and motion that he's putting power behind that elbow and really wants to do damage. Then after the hit he doesn't even look after Harden. Seeing Ron's body/muscles, the force behind this elbow and the close distance you can easily imagine this going out really bad for Harden if Ron hits him in a bad area of the face/skull/neck. This could've lead to a concussion, lots of blood or something way worse.
Honestly, I think you're wrong on all counts. Look at the video before your post. Harden was trying to get into a spot to catch the inbounds play. Artest was in Harden's spot.

Just because this is Ron Artest, I could see this suspension being a lot heavier than it would be if someone else would have done it, given the reputation.
Taking a crack at Artest = getting suspended for the playoffs = no title. It wouldn't be worth it. Harden should know this.
