Haha same story didn't year. The last offseason was all about tanking and rebuilding when the season was salvaged. Everybody wanted a high pick in this draft, Morey decided by the orders of his boss to try to keep the team at least competitive. In the beginning it worked, we had a center but weren't good.

Later we got on a roll and played better than expected with Kyle all-star numbers for a few weeks and Parsons emergence. Then injuries struck and by the deadline got rid of some bench guys for a contributing Camby. This is still a long term move as we will probably see him end his career here. Would be a dick move if we do not keep him.

Morey and Leslie were probably happy with the injuries and hoped we would lose big, but with the Rockets you never know and sure, Dragic plays great and we beat some great teams. Also earlier in the year beat some good teams so there was some hope that should we make the playoffs we could make some noise.

Now, Morey and Leslie should be happy with themselves for what they did *cough*. Attendance was very poor and barely missing the playoffs or being down in the standings wouldn't have made a difference. At least then, we could look forward to a franchise player which would help with getting fans in the seats.

When we a draft another tweener or PF like Sullinger, nobody's going to care and it will be another wasted year. We're probably keeping most of the team as no big names will come here voluntarily and Morey will be stubborn and try to get Gasol or some other softie here again. I am not too sure about the draft either with Morey at the helm.

It's probably going to take another 5 years when Leslie will be gone and Morey will be gone before we get a owner committed to winning and a GM knowing what to do other then looking at stats.

As long as the Rockets are selling tickets this will never change. Just like any company in the business world, owners/shareholders are happiest when getting the biggest possible return from the least possible investment. Just not going to games doesn't mean ***** if people still buy season tickets. Nothing will change till people aren't buying tickets. Next year might be the year. No super star; hope that Yao is going to come back. NO hot shot rookie for fans to get excited about. Get rid of Scola and Martin, F picking up Dalambore's option for next year. We need to man up and just take a whole season of sucking, which i promise will not be as painful as being the best team not in the playoffs 3 years in a row!!!!!

I think its been made abundandtly clear they are trying to attain that star via trade.

They will try and trade for Howard in offseason again.

We are the best rebuilding team. Our young guys don't suck when put together as a team and have given us a chance to make the playoffs. Funny how "rebuilding" means getting young guys and playing them and allowing them to improve. For the most part, that is what this team is doing. Just because they don't suck doesn't mean they aren't rebuilding.

So is landing the #1 pick.

Either path is unlikely, but you have to pick one, and they made thier choice.

The team is rebuilding. We'll see some bold moves this summer. The team is set up for it.

I think the proper word would be tanking to look for a "star" in the draft. Rebuilding just implies getting rid of old guys and letting the young guys develop. A majority of our team is young. Just not our center position (pat plays ALOT at pf)

They have a great back court and trade assets that other teams will seriously want. I see Parsons and Patterson being much improved next season and we're bringing over Donatus(what an awesome gladiator name!) with 30 lbs of added muscle. Why in the blue blazes would they tank now? Are you some sort of a dummy?

Tanking would've been a far better strategy than our current one.

Yup, whereas tanking does. See: Spurs, Cavaliers (no titles but a few 60-win seasons, better than going 43-39 every year).

I prefer a slim chance of winning the traditional way (rebuild through the lottery) over the non existent chance that Les-Morey's bizarre strategy will ever pan out.
