http://www.philstar.com/SportsArticle.aspx?articleId=791589&publicationSubCategoryId=200 Or is it the other way around? JaVale McGee might become Filipino in 2013 and play for the national team. Very cool. He will become perennial All Star now with the Asian votes stolen from Jeremy Lin.
he will be a naturalized players just like Kaman, Horford, the kid want to play for the olympics in ASIA only China (YiJinlian) Iran (Hadidi) our certified big man.. for sure Javalee is far more talented than both centers
Yeah, they got two other naturalized US born players already. They gonna be a force in Asia, but I am not sure they gonna be the top dog. When I grew up, Philipines used to be the 2nd to China in Asia, but in last 10 years or so the National team just does have the same steam as it used to have. Now they are more or less competing with Taiwan, Japan for the 4 or 5th seed. Of course, if Australia ever going to join AIBA, game is over for everyone else including China, but I think it's a good thing for Aisan Basketball to have Aussies nonetheless.
Usually Island Nations like Taiwan or Japan do not have Length or Height to their advantage... makes it harder Javale would help them quite a bit but it remains to be seen.
Well Horford is actually Dominican though, he even has a accent. Not sure though, I think he'd make the American team as a 3rd center in the future if he got his head on straight. It's not like the PG position which is stacked. You got Bynum, Dwight, and Chandler. The Gasol Brothers, Nene, Bogut, I mean all the other decent centers are from other countries now that I think about it.
i know it's take FIVE! all I'm saying is the Center position most of the team in ASIA only china and Iran has the advantage... With McGee playing for Philippines its give them a virtual shot at contending for the TOP SPOT in ASIA once more...
I'm Filipino, and even I think it's a bad idea (I'm cowering in shame). Anyway, I don't think McGee will do it. During the lockout, the NBA superstars had two games in Manila. McGee was one of those who came over. Maybe the national team backers thought he would be the least likely to become a star in the NBA, and therefore would be the most amenable to come.
Back in October, McGee was trying to become naturalized- http://www.slamonline.com/online/ne...-mcgee-to-join-2014-philippine-national-team/
he will be a superstar in the philippines if he plays for the national team and they get a bronze medal at least
