    Exactly.

Guys, Otis Smith is only talking to Houston (and letting it leak out) to put pressure on The Nets to come to the table with a better offer out of fear of him falling in love with Houston. The Nets dont want to take a chance at going to Houston and end up staying.

Here's Morey side of things. He is saying, whats the harm in throwing out an offer they can live with. They have the depth now, and playoff positioning to where if they gave up 3 or 4 players, aquire Howard, and make a playoff run this year. If Howard walks, he looks kinda bad, but maybe it was worth it just to go deep in the playoffs.

Im ok, with that, and we as fans should be too. I think we are all afraid of being embarassed if he walks in the summer because it would make Houston look bad.

The Nets don't HAVE a better offer, fortunately. They're 15-29 with D-Will (who will not be part of any Howard trade) for a reason.

Who on the Nets hasn't been injured this season? They're a mess.

It seems very likely to me that Morey backed off the Bogut trade to pursue this.

Also dont forget that the Bucks should be much improved. I think the Knicks will still be in the playoff hunt and are going to be a better team with a new coach(at least for a couple weeks), but the competition in the East should improve.

Yes, very good point. But I was also going for the whole leaving for New York angle. Randy went to Arizona. Don't think Dwight wants to play w/ Steve Nash that bad ;)

Stern gutted a trade that would put us as Orlando's best trading partner miles ahead of anyone.

A clause in his shoe contract says he gets so much money for playing in NJ.

Not sure who is influencing Howard to say he wants to finish the season in NJ (scaring off potential traders including Houston, also sending mixed signals to Orlando).

A game right before the trade deadline is scheduled in the ugliest city in Texas. Stern is a **** blocker.

So Orlando is pretty much telling Howard, "Screw you."

San Antonio is not the ugliest city in Texas by far... it's decent. River walk is pretty cool.

Dallas is the ugliest, Waco a close 2nd

I don't put much stock into Chris Broussard, but he just said NJ is the front runner, and he also mentioned LA. He didn't say anything about Houston.

That actually makes me feel better about our chances--it happens so often that the team who lands the deal is waiting quietly in the weeds to beat the best offer their opponents give.

Yeah, said the Nets are the frontrunners but LA has the best package with Bynum.

Chris Broussard is an idiot. He doesn't have any idea whats going on. He has to say something it's his job.

no way the Lakers offer Bynum for a rental.

Bynum is the best center in the west and has been truly playing like it as of late.

Ric Bucher said it best earlier today when a player does not sign an extension, or a long-term contract before the contract is up, 100% the player leaves for another team (example Lebron and Bosh). Those who signed an extension stays like Derrick Rose and Durant. In other words, Dwight will get what he wants and that is playing in New Jersey.
