I wouldn't trade Lowry for Bynum, much less Gasol. Look, Lowry isn't a franchise player, but his caliber of play is rare to find in the league. Also, the dude has been bleeding Rocket red for the past couple of years, trading him for Gasol who doesn't even want to come to Houston would devastate the locker room. You know how Bill Simmons credits the Perkins trade for destroying the Celts' "new" Big 3? It would probably have the same effect on our team.
F^ck no. I wouldn't trade Lowry for Gasol +. Btw, the predictive text on my phone changes Gasol to Fail. Enough said.
No. You can't ignore age and contract. You just can't. Is Pau a better player than Lowry? Yeah, probably, but for how much longer? One more season if we're lucky? Is he good enough to turn us into a championship contender if we have to give up Lowry to get him? No, definitely not. Lowry has the key advantage that he can be a core part of a rebuild if necessary. Trading for Gasol means we're looking to win in the next couple seasons. And frankly, that's just not happening with him as the only all-star level player on the roster.
Of course I would. Morey has shown that he knows how to find quality point guards, and skilled big men are hard to find and come at a premium.
I really think there would have to be something wrong with a person that wants to trade a good young point guard for a good power forward who only has a few high productive years left. There are other reasons why I would take Kyle but just the years left of top play is enough.
It is already shown that skilled man ONLY are inferior to dominating big men. Yao inferior to Shaq, Olajuwon Gasol inferior Blake Griffin, Garnett in prime You take the defensive annihilator before the skilled only types
What would you do if you were our GM then? Apparently you think I'm an idiot, so please enlighten me on how you would make this team a contender? Also, make your bet official. You said youd bet your house that Lowry becomes a top 5 point guard next season...
