Given how much wear and tear Andre has suffered, I'd say yes. But the asking price is probably too much.

Healthy enough to play but the injury is still affecting him.

What do you mean by asking price?

The amount of money he's going to ask for once he clears waivers, which I assume is going to happen.

He's not healthy enough and it's too late in the year for him to contribute to any team, it looks like.

In his condition I doubt he's in a position to play hardball with any team. I mean the Niners obviously need receiver help and still cut the guy.

I know the FO won't do it since they are still in love with Walters and Jacoby, why I don't know, but he would be nice depth if we needed in the playoffs. Not likely to be immediate help tho.

"I was released today by the 49ers due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense. I wish the 49ers organization the best of luck during the Playoffs. I will be working hard this off season to strengthen my knee and prepare for the 2012 season. Thanks for your continued support and for being such loyal fans."

If a team wants him they will claim him off waivers. Then they will only need to pay one reg season check and whatever playoff games. Not a high cost at all.

Would it give us any leverage to resign him?

FFS Casey, I know that, but I don't think anyone is going to claim him. I was speaking strictly to his next contract.

But if you want to consider the waiver claim, I'd say anybody who picks him up would be flushing money down the toilet (not healthy enough, too late in the year to catch-on with an offense), even if it's a playoff team. The price of his services per game, compared to what you'd be getting out of him, would certainly be high. I'd be shocked if he doesn't clear waivers.

Are you expecting him to NOT clear waivers?? The guy isn't healthy at all, and just tweeted about how he'll be ready in 2012....no mention of coming back this season at all. I sincerely doubt anybody takes a look at him this year. It would just be money down the drain.

I thought you could not drop players who were injured, guess not.

Well even if he gets the same next year that he got this year it would still be significantly less than Andre, Walter and Jones.

I'm a Niners fan and Braylon hasn't been healthy all year. He's lost his reps to Kyle Williams, and won't be of much help to anyone.

He drops way too many balls. We already have one named Jacoby Jones
