I don't think this trade was as lopsided as the one that got them Gasol. Granted, Paul puts them closer to a title right away than Gasol did when he was brought in, but LA was giving up some significant pieces this time around.

Yes but Gasol is a piece you can build a team around. The combination of Scola/Martin is NOT (they are support players, role players). Star bigmen won't be handed to us.
Considering the fact that we have an entirely new set of coaching staff. Seems like a bad impression for Scola and Martin. Times like these, you probably want Chuck Hayes around. He's the leader and locker room guy you can expect to stabilize the team.

Could someone explain how they are able to block a trade? Was this always the case, something with the new CBA, or because the NBA actually owns the Hornets? Now were right back in limbo. Even if this trade made us worse we could have had a chance at the lottery.
They just want to give Paul away for nothing. To New York obviously. New York obviously wont get him if LA does.
With that being said, I think it's screwed up that Stern can come in and kill a deal. The Hornets may get screwed and not get as good of a deal. Will they be able to kill a deal to new york also?
