This tweet is Josh PROVING that he is idiotic, uneducated trash. He is insulting the intelligence of his listeners if he thinks any of them will be angry with Clutchfans. His meltdown continues. The guy cannot be salvaged.
I'll challenge him to a sports trivia match and beat his ass. How about that? I'd take any 99'er over him.
The Big Show has worked out really well IMO. I wondered if they would all mesh well together and for me at least it's pretty consistently entertaining. For some reason I've found J&R more tolerable the bits and pieces I've heard lately. I'm not sure why. I think maybe it's because of subconscious reaction to some of the stuff lately that have me siding with them, like the Jacksonville whiners or when they talked to Bibi Jones and all these uptight windbags were all outraged. They were just more annoying I guess. I've also never really had the animosity some of you have toward Rich Lord either I suppose. Gwinn is still my least favorite by a mile.
I tolerated Rich when it was he and Matt because Matt at least kept things interesting, but Rich seemed to not really know **** about basketball, seemed like more of a baseball guy. Also heard he was a total doucher.
My father turned me on to sports radio some months ago. Gotta say that when I drive home from work (~6:00 pm) there is one guy that really annoys me. I don't pay much attention to the station except for afternoons when its Matt Thomas, Go Coogs. However, this guy works for either 790 or 610, and was just straight up being a prick to callers on my drive home today. When I hear his voice I just change the station.
Its funny that a guy who tries to be the "edgy" sports talk host is so insecure about himself and always needs people to pump him back up. His dad came onto the show one time and absolutely laid into Josh for always putting negative things people say about him on his facebook hoping people would respond by telling him how great he is. He told him how transparent that was, how he needed to get his life together, and to stop throwing himself these Josh Anus pity parties. It was hilarious because you could literally hear how big Rich's smile was through the radio.
The Big show is great! Cougar Matt, Adam, & Lance all seem to know more interesting details of headlines and players. The show needs to be longer. They have a lot to say. They are true sports junkies. Flip a coing between Josh and Lord. They are so boring and so vanilla (not racist pun).
Innes has a few funny moments here and there but his sports knowledge seems to be lacking. Believe it or not, he has also made Rich Lord easier to listen to. Charlie P is the best in Houston and it's not even close. Edit: The 610 response to the Jags writer was pretty funny.
Charlie is the most knowledgable for sure, but I find his show to be repetitive sometimes, as it is mostly caller driven. I find the Big Show to be a lot more entertaining as a whole.
Good point. You just can't be hated to the point that potential listeners won't even tolerate you, then don't listen or talk about you at all. For me it was Barry Warner by a mile, really hate him. But to your point, even if I have to change the station whenever he gets too indignant* or won't shutup for one second, that's better for ratings than someone I don't hate (but don't listen to) like the mighty gwynn. I don't get mad about that guy at all. I can't even listen to his voice long enough to get mad about anything he says. Don't even know if he's still on the air actually. So technically someone like that is worse for business than someone I really hate, but can tolerate for a few minutes at a time. Probably helps to have a cohost too. I like Shaun. *in the middle of a football conversation, with no transition to this at all: Barry: You know I talked to my good friend (name drops some popular national network sports broadcaster) yesterday. shaun: (pause)... oh, did you ask him about (particular topic they're discussing)? barry: (indignant voice) NO! We didn't even talk about sports, at all. You want to know what we talked about? We talked about FAMILY. And GRANDKIDS. And (goes on to lecture shaun about what's important in life compared to sports). shaun: oh okay, guess that means we're done with the o line conversation then, np moving on. Sports economics, salaries is a good jumping off point for him too. "No. I refuse to even talk about it. You want to know who I want to talk about? I want to talk about the REAL hard working men & women in this city, who don't even make... (cliche ethics lecture, he's not going to dignify the arguments between overpaid millionaires vs. greedy billionaires with a response, because of schoolteachers & ironworkers). Shaun- "yeah, I agree, but do you mind if I touch on it a minute, since a listener requested our takes on the subject?" But all that I can handle. I think it was his pwnage story about how he literally threw his sweaty shirt into the face of someone who challenged him that he couldn't make it up a few flights of stairs, that was too much. I'd probably be in prison if he did that to me. because I doubt a sweaty shirt in the face justifies self defense, & a punch in the gut in his condition, while he.'s breathing that hard, might have killed him. So while I wouldn't kill someone like Gwinn if I could get away with it, I also don't talk about him, & don't listen to him. That may be technically worse, & should have got my vote. Whereas i just spent alot of energy typing about barry. So Barry wins on that front. Any pub is good pub. Of course the best show is the big show. Everything about that show is great. But it's more fun to discuss who we hate than who we unanimously like.
Oh, this threads back up? Can I vote Gwinn a hundred more times? ..... though I really haven't listened in in a while, let me guess: hahahahahahahahahhahaa IIIIIIIIII eeeeeeeee ahhhhhhhh
I think the J&R show is at its best when they both have a common enemy like that guy from Jacksonville who wrote that letter. The guy that I couldn’t stand was Ken Hoffman, That guy had an ego that can rival Barry.
I don't usually rep non-contributing members, but that post was awesome. I've read it 3 times now. Pretty much sums up Barry Warner in a nutshell. Hilarious and spot on.
I used to think this way, but it's gotten to the point that I'm listening to less and less houston sports radio than I used to. They're just as emo as us fans, all of them. Thank god for Pandora. Realignment of UofH talk for hours a day after an NFL sunday? pathetic. So now I will only listen on Tuesdays at 7:30 am, when Lance's dad is on. By far the the best segment on any show.
